Website Is Finished! - Now what?

The quality of your traffic is a factor.

Unqualified visitors will not take action. Qualified visitors will take action.

Your sales copy is another factor that matters. If your copy sucks, no one will take action. If you copy is good, you will see the conversions you want to see.

200 visitors is not enough to make a sound determination as to the quality of your sales page copy, if the quality of your traffic is not there yet.

Like it or not, Internet Marketing is a numbers game, and you don't yet have enough numbers to decide anything useful.

Hope you know clickbank . look for offers in your niche . search the demographics of the people visiting those offers.

Okay advertise on POF, facebook ( I have found success with targeting demographics, related content always helps but not necessary)

Optimize banners (or ads) for good ctr, landing page or site ctr, capture there emails.

Good for starting your own products . It will definitely help you to achieve success in this.

But one thing, They are buying from A STRANGER. So build a landing page first.(Just an option. Definitely helps.)

Second Option. Put It in Clickbank Itself. Read There guidelines. Try it a few times.

I wanted to give my honest opinion so hopefully it can help you out... My first instinct with a recipe book is that so many people know they can find virtually any recipe for free these days on google... I think I remember seeing you post a few days back asking about some feedback, and someone mentioning giving it away and selling on the back-end. I believe this would work better because you'd get many more people on your list and you can then advertise to them over and over again... Offering more information to the list will increase your perceived expertise and thus increase the chances of selling.

Things you could sell on the back-end could be the tools used in this type of cooking - pans, woks, etc (I'm guessing here). But I think you could make a killing by capturing these visitors' email addresses and going at it this way.

I had a website when I first started out that did what you're doing - trying to make the sale on the first visit. While it worked somewhat well, when I started giving away the ebook and selling on the back-end, things took a drastic turn for the better.

PPC is the best way to go in my view.

I would also encourage you to set up an affiliate business with your site so that others can promote for you. This is the best way to go in my view because at the end of the day you don't want to do everything yourself.

As a follow up to what Paul said, you could potentially sell your cookbook as a Kindle book.

You could sell it anywhere from 99 cents to $200 per copy.

If you go this route, you would not need to worry so much about building traffic, because Amazon already has the traffic.

All you would need to worry about is how to market your book inside and outside of the Amazon marketplace to increase your sales.

A website is never finished. Assuming people do start coming to your site, the main reason it will grow is because people keep coming back or tell their friends. To create that situation you almost always have to continue refining over time.

You have made a simple frontend and a very clean backend. As a matter of fact your site is a bit unprofessional in appearance. What you need to see is that its not your site's look that is the problem the actual reason for no sales is your niche for which a lot of free resources are available. Selling a cook book independently is something very difficult, I suggest that you join Amazon or clickbank and use affiliate marketers to help you out.

Based on your copy, I would probably change the name of it. Instead of the "Ultimate" cook book, I would call it the "Lost" cookbook. I would add some graphics to the site that showed an old tattered book, or at least old aged pages. Play on the rareness of it and emphasize that these recipes can't be found online. Make the buyer regret that it wasn't them that found it in the the thrift store, but then make them feel lucky that they found your site and now they too can share in this treasure.

If it is well written, edited, and illustrated, you could not only sel it on Kindle, but dip your toe into the physical book areana with Amazon's Create Space, which is a print on demand way to sell you physical book on Amazon.

People still buy billions (yes, that's with a "B") of dollars of print media cookbooks every year, so with some marketing, if it is good, it will almost definitely sell.

Personally I think your approaches all wrong for this kind of thing.

I'd make it less like a sales page and more like a lifestyle blog... Beautiful big images of great food, great articles about choosing the right ingredients ... It is probably a bit extreme but I might even jump on a plane to china for a couple weeks and write a blog on my experiences taking photos and noting everything down on a blog talking about techniques, cooking methods and traditions I encountered.

I'd make the site full of invaluable infos related to the topic and make it look really beautiful, get them to sign up and send them recipes, cooking tips etc. you could sell them video products about cooking dense style, sell ebboks. You could do a free podcast with interviews with Chinese chefs...

This is what I would expect from a good recipe site not a sales page.

You can advertise it. I have a great gig for just $5 to help you advertise it. On the free side, you could make a facebook page for it and market the crap out of it like tell your friends and family to start with.

Not bad at all I think I would change the Buy now buttons and make it smaller perhaps the standard WSO buy now-

most people don't know about illusions and the magic number that works for me is always 9.97 trust me this works stay away from 99 it comes off as a salesman selling something with hidden tax behind it.

you could use a few more H2 tags in the center I notice them on top and on the bottom............good luck

try to get it listed on amazon as others have mentioned, you could use a print on demand service or sell it as a kindle ebook.

you could take the route of building a content site for seo. Make say 20 pages targeting different related terms. It's a bit of a long process but works. Your site looks good by the way. I have never worked in this niche but im sure it sales since books at the bokstore sale on it Good luck!

I have been looking at your site. I think if you are interested in getting subscribers, you need to change the location of your email capture form.

How about trying to be aggressive. Instead of placing it down there on your sales page, try to put it in a more prominent position. Or use some un-blockable pop ups or anything of the like such that visitors would have to give you their email before they read most of your sales letter?.

If you are using WordPress, you can use a theme that allows you place your sign up form in a more prominent position. Plus your signup form should be enticing. Try to design a graphic (Book cover) for the report you are giving away. and show the benefits that your free report will give them. Our emotions are evoked by the things we can see and relate to. Only words may not cut it.

I even see that there is no graphical illustration of what your customers will be buying. I cant tell whether I will be downloading a book or I am getting access to a data base with thousands of Chinese recipes (A book cover would help improve on conversion). I know you may have explained this in your words. But the first thing visitors will do is to scroll through your site before they actually read. So show them reasons to read.

The problem now is that you are focusing on selling, not capturing emails. So what is your main aim?

I suggests you do not feel discouraged. The beginning is always the hardest. Your niche has potential but you need to work it. As Paul has suggested, you can give the book away for free and make sells on the back end.

I noticed your site didn't look like it had a sitemap.

You may want to create one with an online sitemap generator and then submit it to Google thru Webmaster Tools. That will help Google know when your site's pages are updated and can help them get indexed faster, although I noticed you already had several pages indexed by Google

Thankyou all, youir opinions and advice are very important! I think that I am going to try to improve the sales copy a bit, add some more images, a book cover graphic as suggested by Planetlubs (Thankyou). Also I was thinking that instead of giving the second book (Bonus at the bottom of sales page) away I would give the other book away on a squeeze page and then use an autoresponder series to try and sell the current book. That way I can keep sales page and squeeze page seperate. Do you guys think that this is a good idea? Also maybe drop the price and try and find some sort of other bonus to give away with the sale to entice people somewhat. Definatley going to change the buy button, thinking maybe 'add to cart'? Please let me know what you guys think, your experience is invaluable. Thankyou all !

Scrape the sales copy and submit it around to high PR press releases, Can find a cheap gig for $5 on fiverr and get someone else to do it.

Man, you built the site from scratch in Dreamweaver? You're a glutton for punishment.

I use Dreamweaver only to tune coding, not build websites...although that is commendable...you are apparently smart.

I highly recommend using Wordpress. There are tons of great looking themes that look very professional. Keep that in mind for future sites.

Not a bad first site. Not bad at all. But there is tons of room for improvement.

As a design note and simply as a personal preference/opinion, I would ditch the repeating background image and add images of great and delicious looking dishes in the content to make people hungry.

You have to make them want the book by making them want the dishes they see that are in the book. Images are great for this...especially if you can get some of you actually making the dishes and the finished product.

Having the images on the sides draws their eyes away from your sales copy when they should be part of it. Their attention is being split. That can't happen on a landing page.

Additionally, if the visitor has a big monitor, then they see the image repeat which looks amateurish.

SInce it is just a one page website, you could take your sales copy and easily relaunch it using a CMS like Wordpress and a super clean theme like: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/d...lear.1.2.5.zip

Its perfect for landing pages and you can add all of the required pages like about us, disclaimer, a blog...the list goes on and on.

Do you have any backend products after this initial product? If not, i think you should get or develop one. Start focusing on a free marketing campaign so that you're not losing much money on PPC. Start a blog or website teaching people how to make good chinese food.

In fact, set up a squeeze page and collect opt-in subscribers. Then email them every 3 days with some new email content, and drive them to your website. I think you can make this niche/product profitable.
