Okay, I get it, everything works, nothing works if you don't take action, etc.

And I know, everybody SAYS it, but working hard is NOT a problem. Frankly, I can get on the phone and bang out 100 calls/day for a few months if I have to. Did it successfully years ago, and I could do it again.

I am NOT a detail guy. I don't want to "learn code," and while I've done it twice, I have no interest in designing a website, setting up an autoresponder, a fan page or any such thing.

I know how to sell, I know how to get the phone ring, I know how to design/fix a sales process. I'm an effective, persuasive writer, I love learning the language of a new market, already have made videos in my soon-to-previous field that have led to a substantial amount of sales. i've done all of these in 3 previous markets, and given the right track, I can surely apply them effectively again.

Knowing what you know, given the above profile, what would you say would be the most likely area to succeed? I'm looking to replace $3k/month in income that will be dissipating later this year. Eventually, the income will need to go to six figures.

I don't have any problem at all "doing my homework," but exactly how much of any given topic to you need to know and understand to make sure that the stuff you're outsourcing is done properly, for example in the area of SEO?

Is there any system or training that shows what needs to be done and how do it cost effectively WITHOUT having to do it yourself for the first 5 years?

I have a funds available to spend and I want to spend them effectively, knowing that sometimes bootstrapping is a blessing, not a curse.

I don't need the standard, "start trying things" sort of advice, and I know that there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Please- I seriously am not looking for speculation or "here's what I've heard," no need to respond if you're not already at this level already.

P.S. I'll apologize now if I've offended anyone with my line of questioning, I just have a tendency to be direct.

Pay for a service to be built, something very needed and that doesn't exist or exists but in a poor fashion - one that could be charged monthly at a low cost and tons of people would be wanting to use it - assuming the quality of it is top-notch. Outsource customer support, web design, the backend, and these costs may add up. But, in the long run, something that "sells itself" and provides huge quality to people means "free advertising" - word of mouth - and recurring income (monthly payments). My 2 cents.

    I am offended...

Here is the deal. You either need to learn to do it yourself, or be prepared to pay others to do it for you.

Most of us started out doing it ourselves, but at a certain point, we realized that the power in massive growth was outsourcing to others.

Unfortunately, you have not told us enough about what you want to do, for us to be able to give you great advice.

Are you wanting to do something that is entirely online, or are you more interested in finding something that will pay the bills.

There is good money in online, but sometimes the best money is in offline.

What kind of business do you think you would be happy to be involved?

What are your goals for your business? And no, I am not talking about earnings potential here.

Do you feel it's wiser/better long-term to have done much of it yourself, as opposed to having outsourced from day one?

Frankly, I prefer fixing things as opposed to building from scratch, although I've done both. I've gotten fairly good at critiquing landing pages, and the feedback I've gotten is that my suggestions have worked.

A fairly knowledgeable person in the industry who's familiar with me suggested buying sites that are poorly done, fixing and keeping or re-selling. Is that a viable model?

The area that intrigues me most is offline consulting. The thing is, this area seems absolutely OVER-RUN with people. Looks like every nth WSO is related to this. And I've seen some of the dialogue on another forum on this topic and quite frankly, many of the people who are actually doing it are WEAK. These are people who are discussing their prospects and the nature of the questions they pose tells me they have NO business charging for advice, as they really don't know what they're doing.

So I'm wondering if that field is already becoming kind of a joke... "Yeah, you're the 30th person we've heard from today..." or ""We've already wasted our money with 2 other companies," etc.

What I'm saying is, it looks like a herd of people are diving into this just because it's the "hot" thing to do, not because they're uniquely qualified to do it, not because they understand what it's like to run a business, etc.

Are you noticing any changes like this in your industry?

Also on that topic... just how RELIABLE are the payments in that sector? I've done a fair amount of work with self-employeds over the past few years and I can tell you- they're financials are often a TRAIN WRECK.

I'm not sure it matters, as either is a means to an end. There's an appeal to both, as I can go either E or I on the Meyers-Briggs. With my knowledge of direct mail, phone sales, etc., it would be nice to put that to work, but regardless you're never engaging ALL of your skills.

I like solving problems and coming up with fresh applications or unique combinations, designing elegant solutions by drawing from a number of sources. Every new thing learned becomes grist for the mill. I'm a connect-the-dots type who often sees what others are missing. Of course, it's easier to do this for others than for oneself.

The thing that's always come easily to me is for me to walk into a business and quickly spot 4-5 things they could easily do to increase sales, decrease costs, or improve the customer experience. The same for websites. And keeping the Pareto principle in mind, they're often not complicated or monumental, they're just not getting done.

What I'm saying is this: the skills and abilities I have are definitely marketable, it's just that I'm not yet seeing a "screaming buy" that's a perfect fit.

The goals are: 1- get to $3k/month as directly as possible, with the ability to get to $9-10k... got to keep up with the family's appetites. 2- Scheduling flexibility so I can coach my sons in the fall and spring.

      Thanks.

As you say you don't like doing things repeatedly but you can call 100 people a day for a month... well! I call that pretty persistent and that is what is needed in SEO. If you have money and want to out source your seo routine you can find a lot of people willing to do it for $$$. I am sure you will find a lot of books that will tell you what you have to do and then you can calculate how much that gets converted in terms of money. You can find one book here in my signature below.
