Finally Using Adsense

Hey WF -

I just feel like I need to share or vent, or whatever... Maybe get some ideas...

I finally put some adsense on my blog. Been going like 5 years with no monetization (a very true labor of love). Over the past couple weeks, my traffic started to climb - still very small - but seems to have stabilized at about 325ish UV a day.

So, Adsense is kind of my last resort - how the heck do you monetize a political commentary blog anyway?

After some good advice here, I also starting list building... 70 or so signups over the past couple weeks...now what the heck do I do with them?

Send them good offers with a link to your product whether affiliate or not. But you seem to be doing several things on your site instead of focusing on one method of making money per site. I wouldn't advice this unless you have a mega site. 325 unique visitors a day is very good.

I second that. And keep writing!

Sounds like a decent move to add Adsense... why not. Try them out, see how they work and if they don't work as well as you hope, you can always try to monetize your site in other ways such as affiliate links or other types of advertising or banner ads that may relate to your niche somehow. I'd say 300+ uniques a day is pretty good. I'm not quite there yet but hoping to continue my climb (I get about 140 - 180 uniques a day now on each site).

Side note on that for anyone else, because I've researched and read up and I see that IM'ers have this debate as well: Are Unique Visitors more important than Number of visits? Or is Number of Visits more important? What would you gauge your stats and testing on? I've heard or read more that say Number of Visits is more reliable. Thought I'd ask.
