How Did You Get to $100 / Day?

Greetings Warriors!

This question is for those who have reached the popular "newbie" goal of getting to $100 / day.

  • How'd you do it?
  • How long did it take?
  • Other interesting things along the journey you'd like to share?

I'll start:

I quit my job and went full time into IM because the subject is very intriguing for me. SEO, niche marketing, CPAs, PPC, affiliate sites.. you know, all that good stuff! But above all the part that got me interested the most is making money online, and to do it anywhere in the world!

I got started about a year ago, but spent about 4-5 months just reading up on forums and e-books. I was overwhelmed with all the information I learned and started "action" shortly after those months. I found out that I couldn't focus on one thing because of all the different things I was trying out.

I decided to focus on just small niche sites (adsense and affiliates). Did that for 6 months and now I'm finally closing in to that $100 / day goal. It was a crazy, but fun past year.

So what's next for me? That I haven't figured out yet.. maybe do bigger sites, more niche sites, CPAs, PPC.. But I'm setting my bar higher in 2012 and try to reach $500 / day a year from now.

I hope to hear your stories as well!

I was first able to get to the $100/day milestone when I added a membership program to my business... the continuity was the key for me to get to this point! $67/person/month really adds up quickly and after a bit of time it was very easy to accomplish - however getting to this point did take quite some time.

It took me a few years, and I would mostly equate quitting my job to starting phpLD. But I wasn't limited to one income stream at the time. I had Adsense, a couple of affiliate type programs, and was doing website work for a few people too.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

    About 6 months.

First I made a blog that featured tutorials for my specific niche which I promoted on forums within that niche. I had products related to that niche on the site - I never ever pro opted those products on the forums , just the tutorials.

Actually it wasn't until I installed popup domination and started building my list and that I started to see $100 days.

Facebook has also been invaluable.... I post my tutorials on there now also and every time will get a few hundred click throughs.

Not done any Adwords yet.... I pay for FB ads which are essentially just likes for my group page and. I'm also on page 1 for most of my keywords so I get my traffic now from Facebook, forums and google and from mailing my list.

This model seems to work well. I'm just about to launch and affiliate program for my products and will begin Adwords to armpit all up.

It's taken me around 2 years to get to now which is around 500 average a day. Though I could probably repeat the whole thing in a few months (which I plan to do shortly)

    Build a list.
Thats what worked for me. And I know I will always own this asset and no Google or Amazon or anything else can change its rules and take my income away from me.
Oh yes, I always back up my list.

Yes, I agree with Ryan you definately need to focus all your efforts on building a list and providing exceptional value to that list. This is the key to online marketing. Something that took me 3 years to learn sadly...

The way I did it took quite some time (6 months). I got my traffic purely from SEO, and that takes time. I assume PPC would be a quick way to get traffic, you just have to learn how to do it right, but I don't have much experience in this area.

I like the membership idea and also build a list. To tell you the truth the easiest way to build a membership site is to use a autoresponder and deliver the content via the autoresponder so if you choose either or both of those ideas you need the autoresponder. I'm using list wire these days for my autoresponder its free.

Thank you for that, Claire. I'm looking into List Wire as I type this post. I'm very much interested in list building / autoresponders now as I think I can implement it on some of my existing sites.

      Thanks guys!

It's true that it wasn't easy, but it can be done. When I was building these niche sites, I just kept thinking: if I can rank and get traffic for 1 keyword, why not rank 100 keywords? ...or even 1000? Then it all came down to just doing it.

I use to have those empty $0 sales clickbank accounts, yes you know the ones.

That was until....i did the following.

    1) Built a list of people.

    2) Built a list of buyers

    3) Got others to create a list of buyers for me.

After doing all this, I went from $0 a month to 5 figures very fast. It is all about leverage and as they say the money is in the list. Well the money is in the relationship your have with your list.

some days i made $500, some days I made $10, some days i made only $0.50..

I IM, my income is NOT stable, there's no such thing as stable paycheck .. It's NOT like working in a day job and expect to be paid $3,750 every 10th of the month..

    How I did it:

    1) Offer SEO services, and build buyer contacts..
    2) Promote products in WSO - give 100% commission to all affiliates and build buyer contacts
    3) Flipping of websites...

Like what most of the posts above mentioned, building a list is important.. Leverage is key!

The most exciting thing about Internet marketing is that every day is a different day. It's not like you are expecting a monthly paycheck of 1500$ to plan what you are going to do in the rest of the month.

You may have 0$ days, you may have 3000$ days, you may have 200$ days and the list goes on... The most important thing is to work hard, build a list, study new methods, see what's working for you...

You can't be Jack of all trades...Find something that suits you and stick with it!Building a list has been the most profitable method for every Internet marketer...

    True story...

It definitely seems that building a list is one of the most reliable ways to make money online and it makes sense. Once you have a list you don't need to depend on search engines as much and you can also build trust with people who sign up.

I need to start building a list asap

Took me about 5-6 months on a mildly competitive niche (my first Amazon site) to rank #5 on one keyword before I started seeing some money roll in. It was hard, I was just a measly college student and writing articles on the side to stay afloat. Started trying out other strategies to rank including private blog networks and etc and finally got to #1 for a couple of keywords. That was when I made $70-$120 a day. Of course the number varies. You couldn't imagine how I excited I was when I raked in $5000 on Christmas commissions. Haha
