Traffic Methods for Amazon Sites?

I am nearly 100% reliant upon search engine traffic (primarily google) which I know is a dangerous game to play. I need to get other means of traffic flowing to my site(s) that will actually convert.

I have tried PPC advertising and as far as I can tell it is about near impossible to track which keywords make you money on Amazon and which don't. Even purchased a course recommended by a very prominent warrior and it was basically useless.

i need other forms of traffic. my site converts when SERP traffic flows but what if that river runs up?

this is for Amazon affiliate specific: what other methods of traffic do you use besides google?

    Videos - review the products and upload your videos to youtube

      ahhh, article marketing: i tried the whole article marketing approach last year. that's why i hired an seo worker so i didn't have to submit article anymore. haha

      yahoo answers: i've heard good and bad things about YA. i heard they do send traffic but that yahoo deletes posts too.

    I would suggest facebook marketing. If you are selling a particular item you can actually look for facebook groups targeted towards that item and begin leaving very helpful posts on that groups page. I would leave about 2-3 helpful posts. then give it a day or 2 and contact the group owner to see if they would like to JV with you. this has worked exceptionally well for Roxanne who taught me this technique!

      As you mentioned facebook, their ppc is a great way to get targeted traffic. Just do you research to find the exact type of audience that you are targeted and then use there advance targeting to match your audience.

        you 2 are talking about 2 different things: posting on group pages and buying traffic through ppc/ppi off facebook.

        im trying my best to avoid ppc traffic right now

    I suggest you add an opt-in to your site to capture email addresses - then if you send our regular good content you can have people coming back time and time again.

    This is a model I have used to make a great amount of adsense - But it relies on great content and also a great freebie to encourage people to opt-in.

      That's a good idea to capture leads. But this does not work for every niche as it relates to amazon products.

        Actually it pretty much does work. You just have to think laterally.

        Lets say you side is focusing on sci-fi novels. Then you might offer a free ebook with the list of the best sci-fi novels in a pdf with your personal review on them (and affiliate links as well).

        And then in your auto responder messages you might have a separate message for each of these books with a more detailed review (encourages them to stay on your list).

        Get creative! Think of something that the person wanting to buy that product might want/need.

        Promoting HD TV's maybe? What about a free guide to get the TV's connected to all items including Xbox, DVD players, etc.

        That type of thing. Trust me if you think about it and you have targeted traffic it will work in virtually any niche.

      Not necessarily marketing the facebook page ttdub but rather marketing on the facebook page but silent marketing. You don't want to be blatant you actually want to focus on building relationships on the targeted group particularly targeting the positive attention of the group owner.

        do a google search for your product keyword and look at the top 5 sites, they will be the most relevant to your keyword. Check out their traffic on Compete.com, if you find a site that looks good, ie has lots of traffic & is relevant , contact the owner and tell them you want to place a banner add on their site. Negotiate a low price, this will get you two things, a bunch of highly relevant backlinks since it will appear on a lot of pages, and potentially lots of traffic that can never be taken away as long as that site is getting traffic.

    Use free marketing. You can get alot of traffic even in a very competitive niche. Implement twitter, email marketing, article marketing, blogging, new content to your site everyday, seo, and even forum marketing. Whats your marketing strategy like?
