The first one looks very basic but does allow room for monetizing with CPAs or even Adsense. I could see some potential with spicing that one up.

The 2nd one however should be used with caution. If I were to use a theme like that I would only be thinking of a wood-type based niche. Something like shed building plans or wood working niches. It would depend on what you plan on using it for. You wouldn't want to use it for something like acne care....LOL

Rltenney, i think he meant that he was going to look for brighter looking templates :p

I also like the 1st theme. When trying to choose between these themes, just try to see which one fits your niche/product best. Or, you can always go with simplistic looking themes that will be appropriate for almost anything.

s3 looks like the standard sales page format so this might work best if you're looking to create a landing page. #31 is very clean looking and would be good for inserting a video or product review into. I still like #1 as well.

I guess it all depends on what you're looking to promote with it. Seems to me that s3 would work for both WP sales and a landing page.
