On another note, why would you want to risk your precious websites to free hosting when you can get some as cheap as chips...

If you are going for free it's going to be ad-supported which looks crap. Why not just go directly and use a Wordpress hosted site until you can afford a paid-for host.

Excuse the argumentative tone, Dave, but there are some really good ones that aren't ad-supported at all.

Including some pretty professional, very well-established, very reliable ones.

Their business model is that they impress people so much with one free-hosted, advertising-free site that people upgrade there and later buy more hosting for more sites. (I'm thinking of Byethost, but they don't have c-panel. Some others do).

The TOS at wordpress.com preclude affiliate marketing.

In fact they preclude any form of monetization at all.

For many people, the issue there isn't the price as much as the ability to pay online, you know? Not everyone can get a credit-card or PayPal account ... people under 18, people who live in inconvenient African countries, and so on. (They can still use ClickBank/Amazon and earn money online, and be paid by check.) I'm "just saying".

You can just get a GoDaddy account for around $6 or $7 per month. They've a really easy to use autoinstaller, literally a few clicks.
