Advice for starting a email list?

Hey Warriors,

I want to now start a list and now I need your help on how I should start. I will be using a free auto-responder called Listwire. What can I do to get people on my list or how should I do it as I have no website right now. Could I use a free website provider service like Weebly or Yola? Or how can I create a squeeze page or landing page?

Thanks again,
Zack

I am not sure how you intend to build a list without a website?

You can build a list on a leech site like wordpress for example. You need to provide good content to give your visitors reason to subscribe. You should look to getting yourself a domain and hosting ASAP though.

You can pick up a domain name cheap at godaddy and then get cheap hosting from somewhere like hostgator and then load wordpress onto it from the hostgator control panel. You can then tweak it so it's just how you want it. Provide killer content, free giveaway for signing up and you will start to build a list.

Get a .info domain. They're cheap, like $3.

Don't have $3? Post a gig you can do on Fiverr, get one person to buy it, and wait for the money to get int your Paypal account. you only get $4, but it will get you enough for a .info domain, it just takes a few weeks.

For hosting, if you want to do it really, REALLY cheap and you have $5 (again, do a fiverr gig),you can sign up at nearlyfreespeech.net. You can throw a 1 page webpage up (look for a free mini site template) and paste your code in there, to go wit hyour free autoresponder.

NFS is super cheap hosting, if you have a small website without a lot of content. It's like $1 per gigabyte of transfer, $0.01 per megabyte stored on their servers for a month, and $0.10 per month for a static website. So, you could conceivably host on NFS speech for 6 months with $5, provided you have a simple website and not a lot of files stored.

I dont' advise trying to install Wordpress on their sites, as you have to do it manually, and it's not something newbies should attempt. But a 1 page mini site should be enough.

You have been quoted as saying that you have bought a domain, now you don't have a site but you do have hosting?
Furthermore you have had no money to invest for months, you have already been outed on another thread.

Before wasting time with more questions follow the advice you have already been given. Like others have told you, get some funds together which you can use to start your online business.

We all know you are broke, do something about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have control panel within your website they should have either site builders, or scripts that can install blogging code like wordpress. This should make it easier for you, although what I would suggest is to learn something about internet marketing before you start to build a list

Hi. I don't use free website sites however Weebly states under their "other features" that:
Power users have full control over the HTML and CSS used in the website theme. This means that you can completely customize the look and feel of the site, while also taking advantage of the Weebly drag & drop editor to create the website content.
So, having full control over the HTML code should (you may want to contact them first to confirm) allow you to insert your optin forum code from your autoresponder.

I would also make sure you know what you need to do to be a "Power user". Is that their pro version? -- don't know.

Power user I guess it might be pro, because I have not really created a website with Weebly at all.

Do you know what a subdomain is and the reason for using one? If not I would suggest you don't, if you do you will already know the answer to your question.

Why not create a site with wordpress and just use a squeeze page theme? It's pretttttttty simple.

Just a quick tip, providing a freebie should hopefully encourage your visitors to subscribe.

    All the best,

I recommend purchasing a domain name and getting web hosting first. I'm familiar with Listwire it's a good option for beginners if you're using YouTube or some sort of video marketing to promote yourself or your business you might not even need hosting I've known several people who've used YouTube to generate leads without a website.

You need to have a website or at least a free blog so you can install an autoresponder's script on to your site... The autoresponder script is the one that collects the emails and builds the list for you...

Get a website so that you can create a squeeze page. Then position your opt-in box on your page so that you can collect the opt-in. With no website though... you won't get pretty far in your internet marketing efforts. Your traffic sources will be limited if you don't have a website.
