Amazon Tax: What States Are in the Clear?

me and my girlfriend plan on moving and leaving California before the end of the world (Dec 2012) and we are looking into day jobs (yes I still havn't made enough to quit mine yet) in the United States and potentially Canada.

I have three Amazon affiliate sites up currently with one making me steady income and the other two starting to work their way up. I want to move to a state that Amazon won't pull out of...

thanks in advance. just trying to get a list of states in the clear, states in serious question and those banned...

P.S. I hate that I'm letting Amazon and state politics decide where I'm going to be living next...

    1. Alaska
    2. Delaware
    3. Montana
    4. New Hampshire
    5. Oregon
    6. Washington

The first five have no state sales tax. The last one is where Amazon's HQ is located, so they have to charge sales tax no matter what.

The other 44 are at varying levels of risk.

Last I heard, SC has given Amazon an exemption for sales tax for 5 years, so it's safe for 5 years.

According to the Operating Agreement on Amazon's website, you are ineligible to be an affiliate if you reside in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Turns out, they explain the whole darn program right there for you.

I reside and do biz in both PA and NJ. So far no problems but I don't follow any prognosticators.

As CDarklock said, Delaware has no state tax and is spitting distance from both PA and NJ.
