Best way to cloak/track links?

INTERNET MARKETING

I use WordPress for most of my websites -- does anyone want to recommend the best way to cloak my affiliate links and than track those cloaked links?

Is buying a domain and using that domain to redirect really the best method? Can't I just cloak the traffic from my main website? Is it really necessary to cloak affiliate links that are embedded into my blog posts (and not being used for PPC campaigns and such)?

Looking for any and all suggestions for link cloaking and tracking (not just clicks but conversions and ROI etc) (your method or whatever method you'd recommend). Thanks!

EDIT: How about the WP No External Links plugin and individually setting link masking for affiliate posts? Wouldn't that be fine? Or, should I just track all links using Prosper202 (so we can find clicks to conversions rate)? Really confused and would appreciate any and all help!

I use a free WordPress plugin called Pretty Link. It works like a charm.

What about for PPC campaigns? How can you track cloaked links with Prosper202?

  Wow, looks extremely tempting. So, both the self-hosted and standard versions have the same features right? Does it have built in link cloaking with the option to hide referrer?

I heard that Pretty Link gives some grief to a few other plug ins.

Why not use profit Protector? Its free and will do the job wherever you post your links (Facebook - who hate CPA links, Twitter, anywhere)

I like the Redirection Plugin that is free for wordpress - you can mask your link very easily and it will tell you how many clicks go through each link.

  I use Pretty Links too - and had no issues, but interesting to hear about potential conflicts.
  As for using link cloaking on your own site - many of the benefits of cloaking are still valid regardless of where you're using the links. (your own domain name within the link, unable to strip or steal the affiliate ID, etc.)
  
  Plus - if you use a different link for each place you put your link, you can analyse which performed the best.
