Hey guys
How do I go about approaching other blogs/forums? I have a lot of experience and valuable information within my niche, but how do I go about approaching the situations? Thanks

Pretty simple really, find the movers and shakers in your niche (your competitors who rank well and seem to be dominating).

Then write some fantastic mind blowingly good content and offer it post to their blog in exchange for a backlink.

Many will take you up on it if you can get them to read your request - be persistent. Know that many will not bother to reply, or will say no, but the ones they do agree will probably help you a great deal because you are helping them.

    Good luck with it!

Ok Thanks, So you suggest I write the content first, rather than trying to build a relationship first?

      Yes and No.

You should be writing content consistently, regardless of where it's going. You should deliver regular content to your own sites, but comment on other blogs as well to drive traffic and build a relationship.

I haven't heard of anyone just submitting an article on any blog, unless the blog is powered by guest bloggers. The A listers never take any random submissions, or if they do they will just steal it entirely.

Most bloggers are very protective of their blog and community so you need to build trust with them before they allow you to add content.

Alternatively, sign up at myblogguest.com and talk on the forums and meet other bloggers there. I actually have an ebook and worksheet on guest blogging, lol.

Check out authority sites in your niche and see if they are allowing guest posts. I would prefer high ranking sites because they get a good amount of traffic. Usually you can send them an email requesting to be a guest blogger.

Usually they need to look at your work first before they accept you. Since they are the prime movers in your niche, you really have to create articles that are of high-quality and offer value to get accepted.

        Best,
        Nick

Indeed yes, you need something to bring to the table. They are the authority and have what you want (the link). You have to give them what they want (the content).

Make sure it's really your best content, it does make a difference. If I received some fantastic content from someone I would happily put it on my blog with a link.

It's simple. Just look for blogs that allow guest posting and hit them up with an email. They usually have a set of rules and a set of topics that they'd like you to talk about. This is great for traffic. So as long as you give good quality content, you will notice some spikes in your traffic every now and then especially if you're guest posting to a high ranking site.

It's hard with some blogs because they get a ton of requests a day for guest posts. Personally I start commenting on blogs pretty steadily for 2 weeks, adding some great insight. Then I'll message the owner and tell them I really like their blog and I have a post that I think will really help out their readers.

Yeah, it takes more work and time but I find that you get a better success rate this way.

Okay .. you do a search for the main people in your niche.

Set up as close of a EMD as possible. Promote the site for a couple of weeks .. this should get you on page one if done correctly. If it takes a month so be it but .. pick keywords that are somewhat easier.

    You now have leverage.

You also have samples of your work to show the people ahead of you. Try to send an offer that benefits both parties. If you have a product you own .. make them a 50/50 JV partner for the link they will send.

If all else fails ... never fear to direct them to your up and coming blog and point out the fact you would rather provide them content but have no problem passing them up in a matter of weeks if need be.

If you know anything about promotion .. you always have leverage .. you might not get a lot of interest from the number one spot .. but everyone under that number one spot is willing to talk if you can get them moved up in the rankings.

Yeah .. internet marketing isn't always about being nice ...

Everytime I see a blog I like, I quickly email them and ask them nicely if they accept guest posts. I have had some results from that.

Or you can check out My Blog Guest. It's a community that specializes in Guest Posting.

It is very simple. Just narrow your focus and identify your target market. For instance, if you want to share your knowledge that is related to gaming or entertainment than identify those websites on which such type of content is available. What it will give you benefit? After research to those websites you can write some more valuable content according to the taste of those reader.

Blogging is a give and take business. You have to give some to get some. I recommend leaving comments in the blog you want to guest post on. Build a relationship with that blogger first before asking if you could guest post. You may even want to consider having them post on your blog.
