This is something I don't think I've ever been totally clear on. If I had a sub-domain, say: sub.mydomain.com And I sent my linking to that URL, will backlinking and PR spillover to the top level domain? www .mydomain.com It's not easy to change a ton of links once these linking campaigns get going, so before I pull the trigger, I'd like to know what the consensus is here ![]() EDIT: I'm also asking if linking to the sub-domain will give any benefit to the top level domain. If It doesn't, then I'm better off making this affiliate URL(what this will be) a part of the Home domain in stead of a sub-domain. |

No benefit will pass to your main domain unless there's a link on the sub domain to the main domain so that both spider activity, PR and user attention can flow. Hope that helps. Andrew |

Subdomain is always considered as seperate part of a web site. Backlinks to subdomain are not passed on to main domain. That is horrible part of subdomains. . |
