A webhost with a high email send limit? Or NO LIMIT?

Hello all.

I'm starting an Offline Business, and I need a good webhosting company that let's me send many emails.

Unfortunately hostgator has a limit of 500 per hour, so I can use them anymore.

I'm going to install a good autoresponder script on my sever, and I will also send out emails for my clients, under my domain. ( It's simple, and good branding for my biz ;o) )

So I would love to get some clues about any affordable webhosting that allows me to send out lots of emails each hour.

Thank you for all useful replies =)

Shared hosting don't have the advantage of unlimited email. Atleast I have never seen anyone till now.

You can get your own VPS to host your site.

Because I have Norwegian customers, and I would also prefer to have most control by myself.

Getresponse have SOME modifications for norwegians, but It's impossible to get rid of all english text - which my clients won't like very much. Neither will my subscribers.

And radhika, what do you mean with VPS? You mean my own server?

      Virtual Private Server.

It is like own, MINI server. Your host deals with techie stuff.

Preben, since you have your own Autoresponder Script - why not start small first and see how many emails you will have to sent actually a day. If the amount of emails is high enough and you have enough paying clients, then you can think about getting a new system. The advantage of having your own script is that you can reimport all of your client without to have them doing a double optin again.

@tj - Yeah, good idea. That's actually what I had planned. I just wanted to find out what to use when I get there so I won't be short of time to find it.

@mariuskyu - Affiliate links in your sig is not allowed, but thanks for the tip anyways.

@Michael - Thanks. I'll definately check them out once i get there ;o)

Thank you for all good replies!
I will start out small with my hostgator account, and then move on to bigger servers, or a VSP when my clients pay me enough =) ( 1-2 clients should do =P)

Preben, here's an idea for you...

Why not get multiple Hostgator accounts, each hosting your script? As I read the TOS, each account gets 500/hr.

If nothing else, this idea could help you bridge until you find a VPS or dedicated server...

Yeah. The thing is, I want it to be easy to manage. - So I can have all lists on one account.

In addition to that, I will build my clients' lists with my own domain name for branding purposes, as well as it's a lot easier.
    So for example clientscompany@mycompany.com

If I get my own servers etc. I will even try to get a few of the biggest norwegian email companies to automaticly accept emails from my domain in the future.
Then it will be even more advantages to have my company's domain as sender of the emails.
That might turn out to be extremely hard, but I'm willing to try =)

As for the limit, it should be okay for now. I'll get a VPS or find a better solution later when I need it.
After all, I have the advantage of exporting and importing my lists with easy, since it's a script on my server.
A possible businesspartner here in Norway is also developing one of the most advanced autoresponders ever, and he told me I could use it when it's finished if I wanted, so I'll definately check it out as well.

Thank you all again for great input!

VPS plans will let you set up your own mail server. There are some good VPS deals around at the moment. You can get fully managed plans from $25/month here.

    Hi Preben,

Not sure how accurate it is, but I heard if you have one of the more expensive hosting options with Hostgator they will waive the limits for you.

May be worth hitting them up on the live chat?

    Hope that helps

How do you get that HostGator allows up to 500 sends per hour?

They flagged me and told me that they only allowed a max of 200 per hour being sent out, so that might be something you'd want to check on if you're thinking about going with them Preben.

      I looked into this myself.

      Westhost.com

They have unlimited email sending. You just cannot tie up the server by sending
emails to fast. IE: too many threads at once.

I could send to a list of over 20,000 addresses with them. Granted is was slow, but it worked.

It's in their Knowledge Base. I also confirmed it via live chat.

They do have a kicker in there that says that if you send enough to clog the server, they can cut off the send. Nasty if they do, as it results in false bounces.

They recommended sending large mailings between 1:00 am and 8:00 am EST -- their version of off-peak hours.

This is one of the reasons we at http://www.Digital-Access-Pass.com incorporated a feature called "3rd Party SMTP Servers", which as the name suggests, lets you use multiple 3rd party smtp server names to do like a "round-robin" send of emails.

I highly recommend KnownHost. But I also recommend not sending email on your own - check out a mailing list manager and outsource that side of things, it becomes REALLY frustrating when you start having to deal with spam complaints, etc.
