New Website Name, Needing Help!

First off I have been looking through this site and must say im impressed with the community so far, now,

We are having a problem with the name we came up with for our new gambling website...

The team came up with Velvetdeck.com, we like it but, we are afraid that in the future people will abbreviate our name to VD, which we think will be bad because VD is also venerial disease.
But its a cool sexy name that works with the theme of our site. Some of the other guys think the VD abbreviation may be adventagous because "bad publicity is good publicity"

Otherwise we came up with the name Paybackcity.com Which is a more neutral and broad name for future business ventures. I just like this name, they like the other.

      not sure why we didnt catch this at the begining and we would'nt have such a problem fixing but now since velvetdeck is all over our website its somewhat tougher of a problem.

    I really don't think anyone will even think of VD, as long as you don't abbreviate it anywhere in your site, it won't cross anyone's mind. It's true, you're always your worst critic, my advice: Keep it VelvetDeck, especially if the entire site is already designed from that name.

    p.s. Who even says VD any more?

      true now they are referred to as std's. leave the name as it is.

          I agree...as long as none of your marketing/name recognition is not using the abbreviation of "VD"...you're good to go!

          Personally, I like the name 'velvetdeck.com'...to me, it instantly made thing of cards being played on a high-end poker table..where only the ELITE play!

          PayBackCity.com....I don't instantly think of 'cards' or anything remotely related to 'poker' or even 'gambling'...To me, it sounds more like a site I'd go to if I were looking to get back at an old ex or friend who done me wrong and I wanted to return the favor.... :-)

            I also throw my vote in for VelvetDeck.com

            It sounds classy, and not cheesy. If you promote it as a class-A place, then the name VelvetDeck will spread.

                thank you everyone for your info, this is the only marketing site that has given me any real help. I truly appreciate everyones time, The main reason we started having problems with our name is because the web creators started abbreviating it to VD, on top of this we are going to be working with a couple dating sites, which i thought VD might be out of place.

    Try adding VIP into the swing of things! Very important people along with VD and a little brainstorming might give you a few more ideas and possibilities. Who knows, maybe vipplayitright.com

    Velvetdeck.com is good, very good. I dont think they will abbreviate it into VD for velvetdeck is a one word. I guess nobody would abbreviate one words.
