Something I can't seem to grasp about autoresponders

Hi there,

I'm new to online marketing and I'm still in the stages of greedily reading everything I can about building a profitable online marketing business. I pride myself in being pretty self sufficient and finding my own answers to things, but this one thing just stumps me something terrible. Please help!

I understand the importance of autoresponders and I understand the importance of follow-up. My question is this: supposing you have a site that directs your customers to an affiliate link, how do you keep from following up with that customer, seeing as they are on your niche list but have already purchased the product.

This question comes up time and again for me since it stands to reason that customers will purchase at different points along the sales funnel. It is still important, however, to follow up with those that have not yet purchased. Would you have to go through and manually move those that have purchased to another list until you are marketing the next product? Or are many marketers sending their follow-up emails to their entire list, whether some have purchased or not?

I hope my question is clear. If you have insight I would GREATLY appreciate your guidance in this matter. For my beginning marketing mind it is quite a conundrum!

To greater success!

There 2 ways going about this problem.

    1. Manually move the buyers from your niche list to your buyers list. Not very efficient especially if you promote many products.

    2. Each affiliate email provides value even to those who purchased the product already, e.g. "How I make the best use of this {Affiliate Plugin}". This way you can keep emailing as much as you want and not worry about annoying those who have already bought. This is how I do it and It works out great.

It depends on the autoresponder you use. This process can be automated byt the autoresponder system.

I use getresponse and you can set an automation where an individual is taken out of the prospect list directly into another list you've created that is your buyer list.

I am sure this option would be available in aweber as well. I guess other warriors who use aweber will give you a bit more explanation

This is much more easily achieved when you have your own product, since as an affiliate you don't get access to the emails or personal details of the people you refer.

One method is to offer a very valuable freebie incentive for all who purchase the product you are promoting as an affiliate. Tell them if they go on to buy the product, they are to give you their clickbank order number (which you DO have access to) and you will then give them the freebie.

When they do this, send them to an opt-in page to access the freebie. Good autoresponders like Aweber, Getresponse and Imnica Mail allow you to set an automatic filter to remove from your original list, all who join another specified list (as mentioned originally by tunity).

Then you will have two different lists - a non-buyers list and a buyers list, and you can market to each differently.

          I couldn't agree more!

It's important to create at least TWO different separate email lists. That way you can still provide value, free info, and you can personalize your message A LOT more. Without bothering your subscribers, and have them be glad to hear from you.

Thanks very much for that clarification Elmar.

Considering that, i would think doing it manually would be an effective method. Difficult, but effective.

Your best bet no matter what you are able to automate or not automate, is to make each email that you send out extremely valuable to the subscriber and not just push hard sells.
