quick aweber question

I'm thinking about signing up, but I'm curious how I would handle a situation. I have e-mail addresses that I manual took off invoices from years ago before I was doing any kind of opt-in/marketing. Since I'm not a subscriber with them how would be the best way to get people to opt-in? Create an account with them then send Html e-mails from gmail to select people with an opt-in link to Aweber (with a prize/bonus)? I'm not seeing any info on their site on how to do this. Much thanks

You would just send them a link to an Aweber-hosted opt-in form.

Although if its been that long since they've heard from you, the opt-in rate might be low.. unless of course, you provided them with an excellent experience. Then it shouldn't matter how long its been.

Its ok though man, its $1 for the first month.

Give it a try & see what you think.. I also recommend a PO Box since CANSPAM requires an address at the bottom of each email.

Great, and thank for the tip about the physical address.

Aweber is great, but if You want to import e-mails, then I recommend MadMimi instead. Cheaper and easier to use than Aweber.

Create a CSV file in excel which You can directly import into MadMimi (free until 100 subscribers).

Create a landing page, and offer something for free. Use the "Thank You" page to offer them something for a low price, make an OTO (one time offer) etc.
Also don't forget to write them why they get the mail. Who You are, and what benefits You can offer them.
