Am I Over Pricing My Site's Value?

I put one of my blogs up for sale a week ago on this forum. I got offers But none being in my comfort zone.

I think i deserve more. However i could be wrong about what i should be expecting from the sale. Maybe i'm just being a bit too greedy thus causing my blog not being sold as yet.

I don't have much experience in selling sites however i know that there are a lot of professionals/more Experience persons here.

So if i could get any help in evaluating my site i would be really thankful.

Below is my site listing on here am i asking too much?
My Site Listing

What should i price it at if Possible

Thank you in advance.

One of the major mistakes sellers make is adding sentiment to the price -- the fact is your hard work and sentimental value of the site doesn't amount to anything in dollars and cents.

Is your price too high? The one major issue I have is the fact that the blog was using Adsense and then (regardless of the reason) the Adsense account was banned.

I wouldn't be comfortable slapping my Adsense code into that site knowing that Google knows that site. Unless there's some definitive, credible, answers stating that such an event wouldn't effect my Adsense account, I'd pass on the site totally.

Getting down to it, the "classic" way of pricing a site/blog is pretty much 12x its earnings. And currently, the site isn't earning anything correct?

It's not really possible to market a site based upon what is HAS made but based upon what it's making now.

I really wish you luck with this and chances are good that SOMEBODY will pay your asking price, but you might want to consider something along the lines of $500 to $900 -- MAYBE.

The true value of a site is not what you think it's worth, it's what someone else is willing to pay for it.

If it's a niche specific site then going directly to the niche might increase the offers.

In the listing you make claims that people can easily check. For example: you have a screen shot showing your site to be #3 for online career but it quite clearly isn't.

You also mention Google banning ads on the site. This is going to put A LOT of people off. No matter what you do to correct this.

Why don't you list it on Flippa?

I wasn't suggesting that you were being dishonest (you prove your honesty by letting people know about the Google adsense ban).

When you search Google you get personalized results (unless you switch this off). This means that your site will appear much higher in the SERPs for you than it will for others.

Potential buyers will use a SERPs checker and will find your site isn't on the first 5 pages for the search terms.

I repeat, I don't think you are dishonest but I'm afraid I do think you may be over-pricing your site.

You shouldn't search, You can't find out your website SERP by searching because the cookies keep track of your search results and your website will so higher.

When you want to check your SERP, you need to use a tool

For a site that has made $1000 in 10 month thats an average of $100/month I would say if this income is relatively passive its worth near what your asking.

I would stick it on Flippa you might find some more serious buyers there

Thanks for pointing this out. A guess it was doing more arm than good to my listing. Thus i removed all my claims about good key words ranking.

this piece of info helped, i was not looking at it that way.

    Thank you

Looks like a decent site to me. I think it's worth the value you put on it. Just wait it out a bit.

    Hey Nicolas,

I guess if someone really wanted your site, they would part with the cash but at $1200 it's highly unlikely and probably overvalued for something in the IM niche.

If its worth anything here's my would be concerns

    1) I can't work out what the site has been earning for last few months and what it's earning now. A table with the last six months as rows and the revenue sources as columns with a total would clear this up.

    2) there needs to be some explanation about your traffic sources - 30% direct and so much stumble upon traffic probably needs an explanation to avoid buyers assuming something is suspicious and clicking away.

    3) I'd skip the part about what the makes the header / footer unique, reduce the embedded screenshots to thumbnails and use consistent bold headings for the following categories

    A) what the site is about and whats for sale (the site, social media accounts etc). If you have a mailing list you should mention it here - or better still in the heading if it's relatively large.
    B) vitals - age, pr, indexed pages etc
    C) traffic (where it comes from and how much) and keyword rankings (use SEM rush set for the US to avoid local bias, especially if your site is hosted on a Jamaican server)
    D) revenue and revenue sources including the table described above
    E) links to traffic and revenue proofs, explanation of any anomalies
    F) how youll accept payment, any conditions you may have.

For a valuation stay away from automated calculators as most if not all are rubbish. We have a valuation tool that will compare your site to the nearest recent sales on Flippa to give you an idea of what similar sites are currently selling and for how much.

I would try to add value to the site by adding a different form of income.... CPA, different ad networks, banner ad???

And/or put up a lead capture system and try to generate a list.

If the market has spoken on flippa and you want to move on to your next project that's an option as well.

    Wishing you Great luck!!!!!!

If you want to check the SERP of your site in your own browser you have the option to delete your cookies or to wait for several weeks for them to expire.
Yet, this will show the position in your country and your preferred language, which may be different in other countries depending on a variety of factors.
