How to Stop Google From Tracking Your Searches

Here is a useful article about telling Google not to keep track of your web searches:

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/0...y-takes-effect

Whether or not Google will disable this option in the future remains to be seen. It is also not clear if this prevents Google tracking, or just prevents you from seeing what Google is tracking about you.

If the past history is any indication, anything that is now optional within Google may not be optional in the future.

If you want Google to stop tracking you, then stop using Chrome, Firefox, and Google Toolbar. Oh, don't forget to NOT sign-up for Google's "track my behavior" program.

Using any of the above mentioned items will result in Google able to track your behaviors whether you want them to or not.

You may have also noted recent news of Google circumventing Safari's privacy controls and now Microsoft saying the same about Internet Explorer.

Additionally, if you want to avoid Google knowing anything about you, stop using Google's services. Like in Orson Well's 1984 big brother wants to know everything. The more information you allow Google to know, they more control they gain over your life.

That's easier said, than done ... just Google it

So, I have to have a Google account in order to tell Google not to track my searches? Hmm. Something seems odd with that picture.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

        Hi Dan,

I think I said, don't use Google and NOT sign-up for Google's "track my behavior."

If you share a computer, maybe with the rest of your family, and do not want your kids/others to see what you've been viewing ... it could be "horrible". It's a personal choice to be tracked or not, in the end...
