what do you think about the next big thing in internet marketing?, and why?

    Social media- At first it was Orkut, myspace then Facebook the Google plus, now people are going crazy over pinterest!!

    Those are all big things it seems. All of them can also be combined in some form. I think the one that we'll see the most growth in though is Mobile marketing. The distribution of Smart phones is rapidly growing and so there are going to be a lot of new fish in the sea in that area.

      The next big thing in marketing is always going to be expanding and adding new technologies to existing venues. Cutting edge seldom gets immediate results. But as businesses increasingly compete for the same customers, marketing itself is evolving. Technological changes mean an increase in the types of marketing tools that are available to businesses. While traditional marketing outlets are still important, more and more businesses are finding new ways to market themselves by standing out from the crowd by marketing through many different mediums, including offline.

        I think if you are looking to catch the next BIG thing, you are already too late..... You need to be looking for the next, next big thing........

        The problem with that, is that today, the next next big thing will only become that when people actually take stock, stand back, look at what they have discovered and then embrace it. It's the early adopters that give you a clue as to what could be big in the future......... Generally, taking something that works and modifying it could be a sign of something really good.

    None of the areas you mentioned are the next best thing; they're the last big thing. As for Pinterest, that's yet another social media meme that's destined to get old very, very fast. I predict that no one will be talking about Pinterest in the next 3 months...that is, everyone except IM'ers who are trying to exploit it for traffic. Too many technologies competing for too much bandwidth from people who have too little time. You already spent an hour on Warriorforum, two hrs. on Facebook, 3 hrs. between your blogs of interest, Twitter, email... 6 hrs. on your job.... 3 hrs. to your spouse and kids (if they're lucky), an hour on the phone with friends or family... and now you're going to magically pull time out of a hat to play with Pinterest: an platform that's fun but does very little to boost productivity ?? If you can do all that and get everything done, please create a WSO on your time management techniques. I'll be first in line to buy it.

    In terms of technology, easy SEO with curation looks like it's going to become more and more popular given Google's recent updates to their algorithms that stamp out crappy sites with zero value.

    The internet marketing business model also seems to be moving towards the 'producer/developer' partnership model, where the producer does the heavy-lifting marketing, while the developer gets a cut of all profits. A win-win situation for all. Think Mike Filsaime and Chris Farrell. Jason Fladlien and Wilson Mattos. Frank Kern and Kevin Nations...

      Brittany Lynch is working with something called PunchCast. I checked out the video explaining it and I don't know if it will be the next big thing, but I think the idea behind it might be.

      I see these social interest search engines popping up all over the place now and I think one of the will end up being the new frontier to be conquered by Internet Marketers.
