Finding A J-O-B with the help of IM...

Hey guys. I know this is completely opposite of what this forum is about, but I decided to try anyway.

I'm looking for a FT job in the Atlanta area. One where I actually get up in the morning to go to. I'm doing something wrong seeing as to how I haven't found one yet lol. I am on the shy side, but I know that has to go out the window when you're looking for a job.

I was wondering if you were in my shoes, what ways would you use your internet marketing skills to land you a job.

I'm looking for basically secretarial, receptionist, front office type jobs if that helps.

I see all of the letters and videos used for internet marketing and was wondering what you all would do if you had to find a job at a brick-and-mortar.

I definitely want to do IM in the future, but just can't seem to concentrate because I constantly think about my job search situation. I just want to get to a point of being comfortable financially so I can dive fully into IM (more so offline).

Any info would be helpful.

P.S. I know someone might say network, but I don't know all that many people to be honest. Still willing to listen though!

If I were you, I'd do the following:

    1. Make a website or static blog for yourself. Post your résumé on there. If you do video well, then by all means put up a video of yourself saying all the things you can do for the potential employer. Make sure it is short though and not over-the-top in nature. Make it look professional, but simple. Make sure that you mention any IM experience on there in terms of what you can bring to their business. Make sure to use layman's terms.

    2. go to places like Odesk and Elance to offer your services. This shows employers that you are serious about working. It continues to build your résumé. I know a lot of people put out of work due to downsizing and instead of doing some freelance work, they sat at home collecting unemployment for 2 years and then nobody wanted to hire them. One guy finally got a job and subsequently got fired only 3 months later because his skills were so far behind others in his field.

    3. Maybe a FB fanpage, Pinterest or using LinkedIn to connect with people. Get people to know who you are and what you are up to.

    4. What are you waiting for? Why not start some offline IM now?

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

    Do all the above advice.

However, pick 10 companies you want to work for and do some research on them. Find out the names of the owners and decision makers. Research their web sites and find out as much as you can.

Run a Facebook ad and use the information you have like names of the people you learned about and use them as keywords for your ads.

When these people get on Facebook, they'll see your ads and only them. Make sure you make the ad image something that is white background with their name in bold red letters so it sticks out to them.

Point the ad to your online CV or web site or whatever.

I guarantee they'll click through to see who the heck is running an ad with their name on it.

Do it, within a week you'll be interviewing!

Thank you all so much! The advice was exactly what I was looking for. I've decided to do a hybrid of the two.

Step 1 of Adrienne's advice and all of Rus' advice with having my ad point back to the site I make.

Never thought about the FB ad. Super clever!

    Thanks again!

I definitely will. I've already found FB vouchers on Fiverr that I will use to get me started, and am making a quick write up on the site I will make to link the ad to.

You probably won't even pay more then 10 bucks for clicks bro, but yeah use vouchers if you got them.

I would give "Thanks," but I don't think I have enough posts.
