Have you sold a Wordpress site on Flippa?

I'm a little worried about messing up the transferring process:

https://flippa.com/help/transfer-a-wordpress-site

I'm with HostGator and I know they charge $15 for a "transfer". That doesn't qualify for this sort of thing, right? Is the process relatively easy? The main part I'm worried about is unzipping the file and editing the text in wp_config.php - I feel as if I'm not gonna be able to open it. It's not like a word document - and I don't have something like Dreamweaver - am I right?

Thank you for the help!

Transfer wordpress site is easy. All you have to do is search Google for "wordpress site transfer" and you will be able to do it immediately. It will take you some time if you are doing it first time, but once you get familiar with it it can be done in less than 20 minutes.

Have a look on Youtube there are plently of tutorials there. If you are not really technical like me! lol have a look on fiverr and outsource it to someone for $5.
I have done this many times and I find it quicker and easier as sometimes people have other hosting accounts other than hostgator and transfer can be harder.

    Hope this helps

Unzipping can be done in most if not all file managers.

    The same with editing wp-config.php.

I don't trust the host's daily backup, use a db plugin, or phpMyAdmin.

Transferring a wordpress site is simple if you have the correct software. I use backupbuddy for all my blogs and my client's blogs. It automatically transfers the blog, databases and tables without any editing. If you need any help just PM me. I can transfer the blog wherever you want it and I have references on facebook since i'm sorta new here.

    Here's the instructions.

You can open the files in Notepad if you don't have an html editor like Dreamweaver

Hm. Doesn't sound terribly hard, but don't really feel like dealing with it. Have you heard of Magic site Cloner? Know if that would get the job done?

I'm editing this, because your title finally sunk in. Don't mind me, I'm tired.

You can use the WP Complete Backup plugin to transfer a site to someone else. It's simple to use, create a backup, then either mail it to the person who bought the site, or use Dropbox and the public folder, and send them the link. That's how I transfer all my sites that I don't transfer manually. They can download the entire wordpress install and deploy it on their end.

I like BackupBuddy if I'm going to transfer a site for someone, or I'm cloning my own sites. It's not cheap, but it will backup your wordpress install and create the backup and a script. You upload it to the new hosting, create the SQL database, and then run the script, supplying it with the necessary information. Once it's been run, the website is up, and the extra stuff is deleted, leaving them with a clean install.

So far whenever I had to transfer a site, I just contacted hostgator with all the data and details and they just did it for me without ever charging me!

So I'd recommend just trying that, might be your big pain in the butt reliever
