Hello! I will get right to the point. I am in "overload information" mode right now and need some advice on how to get past this point. I have read many threads on this forum and realize that some of you don't like "newbies" asking "stupid" questions but I am hoping that you can look past that right now and just give some sound advice. I am sure I am not the only one in this frame of mind right now. I have done a search and I have not found anything dealing directly with this subject and thought maybe if there are some threads dealing with this you could direct me to those threads. Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting some good advice here. Joyce Osborn |

Information overload pass with time. The best way is just to write down a set of actions and then follow them. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just do something.

I know that it's a load of bollocks. I had it myself when I was a newbie until... I STOPPED BUYING THINGS (well continued to actually but..) AND STARTED TO GET TO WORK ON SOMETHING! Its the simplest thing! Just START A PROJECT - NOW! If you've got information overload then you know what to do - trust me! - NOW JUST DO IT!Don't be scared of failure... learn from it if you do fail... i think the best course of action would be to write out a plan or 5 and decide what you are most qualified to pursue. Start working on what you know best right now just to increase productivity. It will make you feel better about yourself. Then after you get the ball rolling get back to research and expanding your ideas.

Here's what I do... 1. Take action on something - even though I don't know it all yet (puh, I actually know close to nothing and will never know everything), I can have better results than someone who knows a lot more than me but takes no action. 2. Plan your time - your 'peak' working time needs to be spent in action - only when you've spent your X hours each day taking action, or have finished all of the action items on your to do list, should you start reading posts on here, buying eBooks, etc You will NEVER read every thread on this forum or understand every last detail about copywriting - so just start taking action right now, with whatever knowledge and skills you have, and you'll begin the learning curve. Good luck! Katie |

Pick something to focus on - when you're just starting out you tend to either try everything and confuse yourself or try to learn everything and end up doing nothing! My advice would be to start a project e.g. promoting an afilliate product - start off using one method e.g. Ezine articles until you get good at it and then expand on your methods by going into blogging, ad placements etc. etc. This way might take longer but I find learning things as you need them helps to avoid information overload. |

Do you have a net business plan/model yet? If you never settle on a net business model such as ... The affiliate model: The CPA model: etc. you'll never get over your info-overload and confusion. Lots of people get info-overload because they simply don't know what to look for. They're reading this and that and getting more and more confused cause they don't understand it all starts with an online business model. You need a online business model if you don't already have one. Look for a net business model that you can conduct and get busy getting the step by step, tools and resources you need to get things done. Here's another thread that will demonstrate just how lucky you are once you get serious and get a plan. Newbies Are Darn Lucky These Days!! Hope This Helps!! TL |

Your in research mode right now. Everybody gets into research mode whether they are buying products, reading or watching free videos they're trying to educate themselves so they can come to an educated decision without moving forward into something blindly. However there comes a point when you need to take action and what I've found with my students is that they have trouble with self decipline. Self decipline is something that anybody can learn and apply it just has to be practiced and intigrated with a system that works. The best thing to do is figure out your business vision first and then list everything thats preventing you from getting there. Then you prioritze that list of items starting with the item on your list that will take you to your business vision the quickest or make you the most money the fastest and decend your list in order of importance. Then you take one or two major items from that list and put it on your project day to work on it. Your project day can be every other day, or whatever you want. Before you work on your major project items for the day you will first work on your other daily tasks that you have already allocated in very short amounts of time. Example, reading your favorite online news, posting in your favorite forum, making a tweat. After you finish your daily routine tasks then you start working on your 1 or 2 critical items from your project list for that day. This will really help you stay focused but it will come down to keeping yourself diciplined and taking action and not getting side tracked. Theres actually quite a bit more to this but theres no way I can write all this out here in one post but I hope this helps you out. Frank Bruno |

Thank you all for your time to this issue. I have started mapping a plan. Would most of you advise to start with affiliate programs to start with or do you think that developing your own product is the way to go. I know that eventually this is what you need to do, maybe, but for now would affiliate products be the way to go while learning the ropes? It appears that some believe you take one approach to marketing and learn that before you move to another. Some of the courses I have taken say to do one type a marketing a day. Which would you advise? In sitting down and writing a plan it appears that I need to make some decisions and this is where I am at information overload. I have ordered a couple products recommended by people who have posted in this thread and will utilize them. (I have figured out how to research other posts that people have made. )Thanks for your help and I look forward to the day I can help others myself. Joyce Osborn |

Hi, Joyce: Your question and concern about information overload is valid and very common. I am sure we have all experienced it (and some of us continue to experience it!) Other members have suggested the solution of creating focus in your marketing. I know that's a tough solution because until you wade through the mountain of info and understand it, how do you know WHAT to focus on? Still, I recommend developing focus to your marketing efforts. Select a niche market, or a certain kind of product or service that you would like to sell, then just focus on learning everything you can about that line. Once you have that focus, then you will begin to recognize qualified resources that can help you develop your marketing methods. If you choose certain affiliate products, the affiliate company will very likely have excellent training and marketing materials for you to use. For example, one of the main affiliate companies that I promote just went through a total makeover in their training and resources section and in their marketing plan. They provide everything a marketer could need to build a successful business, all in one place with step by step directions. Most companies will do something like that. I also belong to a membership site that focuses on providing step by step, focused training and guidance that you will apply to whatever company, products or services you are promoting. They will also help you identify the right kind of marketing niche for you. I mention this only as an example of how I, personally, deal with information overload. Bottom line: create focus and let that focus guide your research and development. GT |

Stop buying things. You don't need anymore. For 2 years I spent more than I earned on 90% useless ebooks and WSOs (yes WSOs are no different or better to other ebooks out there, just cheaper). Choose a business model. It could be any one of:
Now create a plan for what you want to achieve over the next 8 weeks. Now write a plan for week by week what you need to achieve each week. Now drill down to the day for the next 2 weeks. Stick to the plan and do your absolute best not to lag behind. I have a shotgun brain and over 50 websites. For about 3 years I had no discipline. For me I found my saving grace - product creation. It reminds me of when you do a project at school. You do a variety of things (so you don't get bored) and finally you finish the sales page and create a gleaming new pdf. Basically, there is an end to the product. Actually that's not quite true - you should keep testing and updating. But compared to a blog, there is more of a definite beginning, middle and end. This worked for me and kept my discipline. Find yourself, make a plan and stick to it. Don't purchase any more ebooks - a total waste of time! Everything you need is on forums! |
