What's your favourite style of sales video?

Howdy.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about different types of videos as I come closer to the point at which I create a sales video for my latest project..

Recently, I put together a "kinetic typography" video to use as a gateway to my project, and now I'm leaning towards a stop-motion animation style video for my sales video. I'm also a fan of those speed drawing videos.

I think those formats all have a good degree of "entertainment" value, on top of conveying important information to the viewer. I've seen some pretty engaging "talking head" videos too...

No doubt a few of my fellow warriors have been in this position before and, as always, I'm interested in hearing alternative points of view. I'm quick to admit that I don't (and can't) know everything... so what are your thoughts on sales videos?

Which videos styles do you use for your own products/promotions and why do you use 'em?

I look forward to your response.

Cheers,

I prefer the kind of video where I see a person talking to me, and that in a natural way. If he's trying to convince people a bit too much, then I don't like it. Videos filled with animations and crazy music are awful, totally cheesy and overdone.

I've seen my fair share of talking heads and I do agree. I think their strength lies in adding to viewer's ability to relate to the speaker, at least in my opinion. Definitely a strong candidate for "self-branded" stuff!

An animated or typography would be my picks and ones I use for my own online business ventures. They require little work to put together eg no need for photos being taken etc. You just need to get the production team developing the sales video for you to infirmary your brand image and animate the whole thing. You just sit back and wait for the awe-inspiring results! haha

I also prefer to see the person that's talking. The best ones are done in a professional setting in casual clothing in my opinion. Nothing too full on, but still professional nontheless.

While on the subject I can tell you what I hate.

I hate sales videos that start automatically. And I also hate the ones that you can't see the duration or change the current time of the video.

They're my pet hates. If I ever go onto a sales page with either of them I hit the back button immediately.
