I think I'm done with the affiliate thing
I'm just not interested enough to put in the work. Even when I come up with ideas that get me excited I don't follow through.
Going back to when I was a kid my interests were in doing good things for the world and developing new ideas. Being a salesman was never a part of the plan until I discovered internet marketing.
I think that I need to rediscover my old passions and way of thinking. The types of things that I was interested in as a kid and a teen are still things that I can see myself getting into today.
So aside from a solitary site that I may put a little work into here and there, I am (actually finding myself very hesitant to say this) quitting affiliate marketing. This is not for me. It doesn't fit into my passions or interests. And since it's not a job where I -have to- get it done, I'm not going to get anywhere with it.
From here on my focus needs to be on those things that I can realistically see myself doing. Not selling other people's stuff, but offering my own. Developing new products and services. Solving a problem. Giving something of value to the world, be it material, intellectual, or philosophical.
This isn't the first time I've "decided" that I was done. It is the first that I've come out and said it. I guess I just needed to both admit to and convince myself that this path is not for me.
I'm going to end this by saying to those of you who are struggling with internet marketing, there's more than just a few methods to success. If you look in the offline world there are many, many types of jobs and services. Some you can do with a minimal amount of learning, others you need years of education combined with experience in lower positions related to the profession you're trying to get into. The web really isn't too dissimilar to this.
The '90's were the pioneer days of the internet. Today it's akin to the wild west. It's all about either finding an opportunity or, more often than not, making your own. And who knows, you just might find a nice little deposit of digital gold in the process.
Do what you will. As for me I have some prospecting to do.
