1-to-1 Coaching via Skype

It's going to take me quite a while to create content for my membership sites, probably 6 months, so in the meantime I was thinking of offering 1-to-1 coaching to my niche market (musicians/songwriters) via Skype.

Just wondered if there were any tips regarding pricing, etc. For example, should I have a mnimum of xx number of hours ? If the minimum was an hour people would probably just go for that, and knowing me they'd get a ton of info and probably not come back. Or should I say first hour is $100, then $60 thereafter (for example).

Any recommendations for ebooks, etc., on coaching also welcome.

I would try the Scheherazade strategy : offer the first 10 minute free, and make the person so curios that he's willing to pay to hear the rest. Many people find a free consultation irresistible.

Did you know that modern versions of Skype allow you to share your screen, so the person you talk to can also see a sheet with notes for instance? I mention this feature because not all people know about it.

I would charge differently, based on the levels : $10 per 30 minutes for beginners, $20 per 30 minutes per intermediate and $30 per 30 minutes for advanced. Of course, you decide the threshold between the levels.

I find the title "Learn to Play in 6 Easy Lessons" very appealing. Well, they have to be longer than these ones

I give career advice within the music industry, so in theory they could become world-famous rockstars

The problem will be finding the market and advertising to it.

Create a site for it, get around some music forums, post a few ads here and there and see what response there is.

Only testing can tell if you've got a legit business on your hands or a giant waste of money.

Fortunately I'm quite well-known in this field so that isn't so much the issue. More the fact that I have not much experience of 1-to-1 by-the-hour coaching.
