Any Kindle formatting experts here?

I REALLY need help!
Despite having purchased 5 Kindle WSO's and extensively searched the internet and publishing 4 kindle books, I am still having major formatting trouble with my books. My latest, which means a lot to me, is the biggest disaster! It is free at the moment - could someone please download it and advise me how to fix the dreadful formatting errors in it? I would be hugely appreciative!
If you can reply here I will PM you a link to it..

Thanks guys
Dave

      Hi Dave,

I'd be happy to help you out. Most likely my system can solve your issue in less than 15 minutes.

Excellent! Thanks - is it a paid system though?
I would like to learn how to do it - let me know what the system is anyway, can you?

        Thanks!

My system is called KBG and will have both a paid and free version.

You could easily learn to use the system yourself and if you want could even become the expert for other people.

Thanks - I opted in there as an early bird.. in the meantime I am gonna keep working through the info Peeps sent me cos I want my current book to do well. I'm a bit skeptical about paying for more Kindle stuff considering how much I have already spent and on how many people's products tbh..

Dave, did you use WORD to originally compose your book? If so, how did you save the results?

What format did you use when you uploaded to Kindle?

I uploaded a book yesterday and it came out perfect. I have found that it's best to use the Kindle Previewer and fix all formatting to just how you want it before you upload your book.

I will take a look as well if you send me your link.

Hi Steve - yeah I used Word - I tried to save it as a web file but I just couldn't figure out what to do with the images to stop them all moving to the left so I stayed with Word. I have the Kindle Previewer but I can't figure out what to do about images - actually the images are what are really messing up my formatting cos this is the 2nd book I have written with images and the second one that is really causing problems.
Unfortunately it's freebie day is over but if i can't get this sorted in the next couple of days I will use another free promo day and send you the link..

    5 steps:

    1. Cut and paste into Sigil
    2. Create content list within Sigil
    3. Save file (it saves as an epub file)
    3. Import into Calibre.
    4. Use Calibre to convert to a .mobi file
    5. Save

    That's it.....upload to Amazon!

p.s. both Sigil and Calibre are free downloads

      Dave,

I use WORD as well. Here are a few tips that might help ...

      1. Keep your image files to 500 px or less in width and center them on the page (Kindle resizing of images can cause formatting issues because some of their device screens are pretty narrow)

      2. Watch hard returns. You don't want to use them to create extra space between text and images. Instead, use "before and after" line spacing that you can adjust under "paragraph" in WORD

      3. I save my WORD files as "Web page, filtered" files

      4. I then import these into Calibre, (mentioned in another post)

      5. After adjusting the Calibre settings (it's pretty intuitive and easy), I save the book in "Mobi" format

      6. Use the Kindle previewer to see how the mobi file looks - make sure everything is how you want it

      7. Upload the mobi file to Kindle.

Thank you so much for all the replies to this question ... I also had bought loads of programs on creating Kindles and when it came to creating the ebooks, I realised that most don't cover images, so you can imagine, I am very grateful for the question and the answers.

Hi Guys - sorry but I couldn't answer for a while as I was 'away in Europe' - I tried the Sigil then Calibre and WoW! Boy did that make it the easiest thing ever! There were a couple of slightly off centre images but nothing compared to the problems I had been having. It was such a relief to get that problem out of the way. i didn't try any of the other options after that, but i will on my next Kindle just to try them all out. Anyway - thanks guys!!
