I get the basics, selling them as is and offering them as a bonus for the product that you are actually trying to sell, or just giving them away for free just to get people to optin to your list. but what are some other uses for them? i just wanna see if there is more to it? or if anybody uses them for something Ive never thought of. thanks

There are a ton of uses for PLR. In my experience, the ones you've mentioned are the least effective ways to proceed. They are the lazy marketer's curse.

The best way to use PLR, in my opinion, is to change it for the better.

That means, to add some user value. Think of all the ways you could make the PLR different and better than it was when you got it.

How you do that is the subject of many, many blog posts, articles, products, membership sites, etc.

Here is just a tiny sampling of six common ideas:

    - Rewrite it adding your own personality and more "meat" and use as a lead generator
    - Make an audio file from it or add your own audio
    - Make a video for it or from it
    - Compile several PLR pieces into one better piece
    - Turn it into a unique article with your own product or site links included
    - Freshen it up and use it as a blog post with product or affiliate links at your own site

Get creative, there are a ton of ways to use PLR. Just don't fall for the lazy man's approach and use it "as is."

A way I use my PLR is that I create an email series with it and then when someone signs up they get sent the series...

You dont even then need to worry about duplicate content at all :-)

    Danny

PS this works well in the weightloss niche

Great response Steve B, I've read far too many posts on various forums how newbies get upset from getting their hands on a PLR ebook that came with its own website template they could use. They slapped their name on the site as the author, purchased a url and then began complaining on forums that they weren't making any money and that using PLR doesn't work.

You've hit the nail on the head though. If they were to add to it, change it, create a video series on it or converted it into an audio product and changed the website name, graphics and content, they might have made something if they drove traffic to the page. Just saying that I've seen this happen.

Have you ever did a search for a PLR product you just got your hands on. You'll find the EXACT and UNCHANGED copy on dozens, upon dozens of sites. Guess what, they're not selling either.

But if you change it up and rename it, redevelop it per say. Now you've got a more unique edge to deliver to your audience and may actually get somewhere. It was nice to see such a great answer Steve.

I don't think PLR should be the main part of a product anyway. Besides changing it a lot, you really ought to add material from other researched sources, and especially your own ideas and experience.

You can use it in many ways.

You can make a Video course from it, Audio, etc. Take some pieces of it and put on your website as articles.

As somebody above there said, best you can do with a PLR, is adding VALUE to it, making it better and better.

    Good luck!

PLR is like chicken broth - boring and plain on its own but a good base for something else. The best use of PLR is to repurpose it for a particular market.

For example if you have 10 PLR articles about general acne you can repurpose and combine them to create a report for the adult acne market.

A proper repurposing, entails editing, adding information specific to the market and adding your unique voice.

Using PLR is the offline world something that is not discussed a lot, but it can be profitable.

One way this can be done is by marking some edits and submit the PLR articles to community newspapers.

One niche this would be prefect for is the Pet niche. You can use PLR as the base for a weekly column. You can have a local Veterinarian sponsor your column and you share the revenue with the newspaper.

Or you can add your website address to your byline. This can be a great way to reach new customers, and build your brand.

I always think of PLR as my 'rough draft' for any other content. Someone else has done the research and initial writing (so long as it's from a quality source), and I can start adding my own value. Aside from all the things robyna just said, there's also:

    - use key points as 'tips of the day' on your site or even on a printed calendar
    - create worksheets around the content in the articles. People fill in the planning worksheets based on what they learned
    - printed flyers for offline lead gen
    - talking points for a slide show, webinar or teleseminar
    - reference material for a membership site
    - informational articles for your coaching clients
    - take key points within an article and expand on each to make several articles
    - break up or combine content from larger/smaller packs
    - combine content from different plr providers, taking the best bits from each (I love this mix and match method)

PLR keeps you from reinventing the wheel and starting something from scratch. You then add value and customize it in any way you want.

How about using PLR articles in your email list mailings? You could send out part of an article then require them to click out to your website to read the rest.
