Will this get more sales?

Hello I started selling on ebay again recently and had the plan to make a website and sell from there as well to cut fees. Then I thought if I could get my product page number one on google for that product would that make more sales?

Pretty much like mini amazon affiliate sites except Im selling the products and dont have to worry about cookies, small commisions etc. Example:

Find product. check monthly searches, competition etc
If checks out good add it to my main shop or mini site/page
Seo product page, reviews, backlinks etc,
Get to top 3 of google.
Increased traffic and sales?

    Absolutely, yes! I'm not too sure why you would even doubt it!

    As long as you are able to rank, and as long as your search traffic is high enough, then it should bring you visitors, and therefore sales.

      Extremely effective method and one that lots of marketers use with great success...

      One Warning: DO NOT build a site around a KW found using the Adwords KW tool hoping that the traffic/competition metrics are accuarate... you may be very disappointed... They can often be off by 10's of thousands.

      Remeber, Googles job is to sell Ad space NOT to give marketers accuarate traffic statisitcs

      Adwords Keyword tool is FANTASTIC for finding LSI KW's to target if you plan on building an authority site, keywords that Google will expect to see throughout your site

        This is an issue I have thought of recently. I dont trust googles keyword tool anymore can you suggest any more accurate reliable ones?

    The only reason why I have slight doubts in this is because I have spent so much time previously making adsense sites/affiliate sites getting virtually no where.However I learnt a tonne of SEO. Anyway over the course of about 2 years on and off I made a measly £300.
    Recently my biggest achievement was finally getting ranked 2nd for my affiliate review product site hoping to make even just one sale a month.... I made ZERO extra . I just hate the way all my hard work doesnt get payed off. So im kinda scared if the same happens with this.

      Out of curiosity, can you please post the KW you were ranking second for in Google? This would be helpful

        It was just an affiliate product as the keyword. I think one reason why it failed was because maybe that product was not desired or popular. know one wanted to buy it.

          That could DEFIANTELY be the problem... Even though you were ranked second in Google under that Keywords, what does it matter if no one is searching for it?

          i have had this EXACT same problem with clickbank products in the past... HUNDREDS of eyeballs with no buyers, so please, dont feel bad!

          Another tip is to give readers an informative, interesting site to visit when they finally do land there.... Give them what they want, and they will buy...

          Also remember that buyer kw's can be many times more valuable than lookie loo kw's...

      ok thanks everyone. Here is an example I found i typed in panda hats to google. and number two was an amazon affiliate site selling all panda hats. How much do you reckon this guy makes? pandahatdotcodotuk

      I would kinda like that for each of my products joined to the rest of my main site. Making product name the keyword.

        Interesting! It looks like Panda Hats is a pretty sweet KW with decent traffic... here is the site Im coming up with as number 1 in Google

        I bet we'd ALL be surprised to see how much they are making!

        I believe you are 100% on track naming your product after a Great KW...
        Knock the others down with your awesome page/ site relevance score and some backlinking

    I don't know how much experience you have with SEO. It can be a long process getting the ranking. Factors like the age of your site will work against you. Of course, if you are willing to risk the black hat penalty....
