A few questions from a starting Internet Marketer

I have been wanting to start internet marketing for over 5 months now, but I have never had the initiative to take the first step. I am planning on taking my first step sometime this week, but after reading around the warrior forum, I came to a question: If I were to start a site about body building(this is an example, I know starting with body building would be a bad idea due to the high competition), would I need to be familiar with body building/fitness? My view is that the blog/article can be outsourced, so could the SEO. However, is knowledge in that particular niche necessary to become successful?

P.S here's my plan to start off internet marketing, tell me what I should change/add?
:Learn to install WP
:Find a niche that is hot yet not much competition
:Join an affiliate program(clickbank)
:Get the articles outsourced from WarriorForums
:Get some backlinking done
:Launch the site

Thanks in advance! Hope to see some great advice!

P.S here's my plan to start off internet marketing, tell me what I should change/add?
    :Learn to install WP
    - Learn how to modify themes
    - Learn about plugins
    - Familiarise yourself with it

:Find a niche that is hot yet not much competition
    - Consider making your own product to sell?
    :Join an affiliate program(clickbank/NOT RAPBank?)
:Get the articles outsourced from WarriorForums
    :Get some backlinking done
    :Launch the site
Less emphasis on outsourcing. You want to keep your overheads small.

      Hey Harvey,
I don't think I'll be making my own product to sell, reason? I don't have a particular interest in anything, so I wouldn't be able to write something appealing about a specific topic and of course, I will be learning along the way how to SEO/backlinking, and eventually familiarize myself with how to write "good" articles.

Branding.....Start your research by "Branding" = YOU
Get busy on the social networks so folks get to know you and you can see what they
need or are talking about in the blogs etc.
Be yourself and do what you like.

    Speed of implementation.

Get into doing something. If it fails, move onto something else.

Do you even have a hosting account? (hostgator is 10 a month for unlimited domains... can easily install wordpress with a few clicks).

    Good luck with everything.

I would suggest start with a couple of websites. On one you can do work manually and on the other use a plugin like wpzon Builder or anything which automatically posts products to ur websites.

test as well as research which one converts best!!

In addition you may start combining your affiliate marketing with creating your own products. First and foremost, make sure you funnel all your traffic to a squeeze page in order to build a list. This list should be the basis of most of your affiliate marketing efforts. Every other thing is simply not scalable. There are some strategies you can use to effectively find your feet in this.
    1. Choose a good product to promote
Do not make the common mistake of selling the popular products everyone else is selling. Do a simple research first to know if the product is in demand in the market. Also, make sure that the product you'll choose is of good quality.
    2. Do some pre-selling
Most affiliates conduct pre-selling to qualify the leads they will be referring to the merchant's page. This will increase conversion rates because only interested individuals will see the sales page. One thing you can do here is to buy the product you are promoting, and write an honest review about it.
    3. Be capable enough of driving traffic to the merchant's sales page
This is basically the most difficult task you'll face. In doing this, you should decide first how you will attract traffic towards your affiliate website. You can go for paid advertising or you can spend time creating authority sites that are content rich and with affiliate advertising placed within them. It is good if you can use both strategies.
The nature of the traffic you drive to your affiliate site also matters. You should be able to send highly-targeted traffic, or else, your conversion rates will not be sufficient to cover the cost of advertising. This is where your list becomes very important.

Gavori - In whatever your niche is going to be; the big question is "What is your hook?" your angle, your slant, why your content is different and therefore will get the buyers attention. Example: "One legged weight lifter breaks world record!!"

The faster you get something out there building a list the better.

Pick a niche - Don't shy away from popular niches if you have a good hook. Remember you what a part of a BIG stream of buyers. If you find that perfect niche that no one is going after, I bet they know something you do not yet know about it. Happened to me.

Buy some PLR content on your niche and start changing it to match your hook. Create something (audio, Video, eBook) really valuable then give it away on a squeeze page. If you have a little cash just install a basic Wordpress theme and then buy OptimizePress and use its built in Squeeze pages.

Get your free Audio, Video or eBook done as soon as possible and get it setup on a squeeze page. Once you start building a list you need to convert them to buyers. Find a product that is in your niche that you think is really good and offer it to your list using aWeber or another autoresponder.

This will start building your list of buyers. Expand your product to a 50 to 100 page eBook, Audio Series, Video Series. If you want to be creative you can use gotowebinar to create a webinar invite your friends to a webinar about your topic. If your not the subject matter expert ask an expert to do the webinar with you. Like someone who owns a gym in your area that wants some free exposer. Record the webinar and send the link to have it transcribed. Then use the transcription along with your PLR content to make your big product.

These are all things I have done. If you have more questions or I can help in anyway please Skype me at: anthonyflatt or email me anthony@anthonyflatt.com or checkout my website anthonyflatt.com

Keep at it no matter what and you will be successful.

    Regards,
    Anthony.

Thanks for the great advice, I think I'm going to set up a blog, write up an article about that particular niche and put some affiliate links up to sell a product. Whatever the result, I will then go onto building a list and see how that goes.
Once again, thanks for the great responses!
