Email Click Through Rate

Happy Sunday,

I was wondering what kind of CTR you are receiving on your mailing lists.

I am looking at goals to achieve. Currently I am receiving 10-15% but I would like to push that into the 20's.

Good open rates are around 30-40% - maybe even up to 50% if you're extremely good. Click-throughs, I'd say around 60-75% would be very good, 50% of your opens would be pretty normal. If you send lots of offers to your list, however, even more than once a week, these numbers could easily be cut in half. These numbers are around what I was getting on a list I emailed once a month. It's all about making sure your list looks forward to your email - you don't want them to think, "ugh, not another one...".

Not my experience. My best open rates are close to the 45% range.

I used to mail twice a week. Now I mail daily.

My open rates went up as I started to mail more.

Maybe that is because people like me.

You don't know these figures for sure. Some of the unopened mail may still be opened, only without downloading the external images which gives the autoresponder company the opportunity to have the count. Because of privacy issues, most mail readers do not download external images by default. The user has to agree by making a click on the image download button to get them (and only then the mail registers as 'opened').

I think as you build a relationship with your list and you start to provide true value then your click through rate will increase. My click through rate has been over 50% and my frequency is about 2 times per week to my list.

Wow thats a little embarrassing then.

This is a new list that I have only been working on for a week and I have only sent two emails. My goal then is to build that credibility with them so they will anticipate my emails.
    Thanks

Well, an "open" generally doesn't mean they read it. For example, I get mail all day. When I know I don't care to read it, I "open" it so it shows as read - however, I don't actually read it. And, of course, many people do the same thing, especially when receiving mail on an extremely regular basis from the same source.

Yes, but if don't download the images, it does not show as read.

    Have a look through:

    Research | MailChimp

The above stats are based on the analysis of 570 million emails sent via MailChimp.

    Excluding the 'other' category:

The highest open rate is Photo and Video with 28.93%
The highest click rate is Construction with 8.01%

I really think that 10-15% is pretty regualr from what I've seen.

I find that this number increases when your leads are more targeted.

for example, when my leads are focused on the general dating category, I get that kind of open rate.

However, I have leads specifically interested in becoming better in online dating, the open rate is about 30% for me.

Another factor that affects your ctr rate is the number of links in the mail. I've found that putting 2-3 links spread through the mail increases my ctr by about 30% generally.

I don't know about numbers, but you should give them a great reason for clicking on that link. Also, at the other end, something that lives up to the promise must wait, or better, over deliver if possible.

I just experimented with a new newsletter campaign.
Compared to the MailChimp link posted above (Research | MailChimp) I'm doing much better than category average, with an open rate ~30% and CTR of ~7%.

It's good to give the reader a good reason for loading the image, like writing something in the text that is referring to an image for example.

The more important elements for the open rate are: Sender name, Subject, delivery time...

    Ciao
