And I highly suggest you sell it on SitePoint or DigitalPoint instead of eBay. eBay never work well for me.

Yeah, I agree with Desmondblog - Sitepoint is the way to go. It costs more to list but if everyone chips in than that shouldn't be a problem.

I think the $6 could go towards domain reg, sitepoint listing and maybe buying content or blog posting services etc... Not sure what DotComBum had in mind, but I think a small fee is good as people will have in "investment" in it and therefore be more willing to participate.

I am glad someone has volunteer to provide the web hosting, if the buyer wants to stay with the host, the web hosting provider get a new customer, that way it benefits him/her.

As for the $6.00 I think it's a small fee that anyone can afford, the fees is to pay any cost that come up, we'll try to save as much as possible to save cost.

Now is just the brainstorming stage, all ideas, comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

The group could also profit by documenting the whole process to create a product.
Add in some Camtasia videos of the process and sell it as a WSO.

I'm not really after profit, but I'd like to be a part of it.

I can offer content, setup, help with autoresponder, whatever.

I think we should set up a site, offer a free report, and set up an autoresponder series. If you really want to get down in the weeds, we can create a custom product.

... etc etc ...

Best thing would be to see who can bring what to the
flip-table and team ourselves into groups of say 3 to
seven people ... communication is important, either
Forum or Skype (both actually) would be best ... I
won`t use any other "chat" myself.

I'm not sure if you've thought of this yet, but if the site is going to be monetized by any form of advertising, you know, there are scripts that will let you rotate different 'members' adsense codes, or if necessary, rotate other ads/banner codes so the income in the short term would be rotated out to the various members.

Of course this could make tracking revenue a little sketchy for when you're ready to sell.

Making a profit is not a big deal for me on this project, I would just like to learn the ropes, so if it helps, I'll be more than happy to put any of my profits earned towards either a group pool or buying you all a beer (don't know how I can manage that through the internet)!.

Since most of you has suggested sitepoint, we would probably be selling there, we have to decide which category to list in, Premium site? Start Up site? or Established site? Also go to look around the listings on what sells best on sitepoint and be familiarize with the marketplace if you are new there: SitePoint Marketplace - Buy & sell established web sites, startup and turnkey websites and more

Yeah, I'd say you are spamming. The goal of this project is to teach newbies that it can be done, not to sell your hosting and article services. You should have something to contribute as part of the profit share...as in free.

Why not separate them into a few teams (3 in a team) and place an established site flipper as the leader? Of course the profits will be low, but what people want is the learning experiences I supposed.

As the purpose of site flipping is selling a turnkey website, if i am not mistaken. then the one who buy the site, will have the right to sell the software?

but only one warrior from manila who bought the software ... :-)

Gosh. I don't know how you are going to co-ordinate this project. Could be a bit like herding cats.

I'd be interesting in taking part in order to learn new skills. I am a writer of about 60 books (the old fashioned ones with paper and ink) plus a lot of magazine and blog articles. Many subjects.

But as I say, who is going to herd them pesky cats?

I think we should consider donating the money from the sale to charity.

With this many people involved, the profit for each person will be minimal. Plus disbursing it could be a real PITA. I think most of the people are here to learn and probably don't care about making $5 on the deal.

Of course, I could be wrong about that ... I was wrong once before....

$5 is a lot of money to some folks, especially
if they are $5 short on the rent payment
or 2 days short of food for the month.

Yes, I know that it can be a lot of money to some folks, but seeing as you have to pay $6 to get in I was thinking that people wouldn't be doing this looking to get money out of it to pay their rent but more for the experience.

Hi All,

Are we going to sell this website quickly or let it age?

A few weeks can mean the difference of selling it
for $97 and selling it for $297.

1 sale will boost the price many fold.

Example:

A normal website with unique content
will sell for about $97 on a dot com DN.

Get a sale at $20 and you boost the
value by 8 to 10 times the sale price.
Ex. $97 + $200 = $297

Why would we pay for content when we have so many willing participants with talent and the ability to do it for free?

If you read the point of the thread, the purpose is to create something from scratch and flip it. What's the point of doing that if someone is going to donate a website? Again, the price of the content is not the issue, but if you want to help then you would do it for free. I write for much more than that and I'd be willing to do it for free.

Dotcombum may not have said anything about you spamming, but I don't see where he owns the thread? Also, we are all paying equal buy in, so we all have an equal part in the discussion.

You may have experience flipping, but I've never seen you around here before and I don't know if I agree with your intentions.

Flipping is something that I have wanted to try forever, got a couple of WSO's on it, I am more of a work along with person so this is a great opportunity.

If there is still room I would love onboard at $6 less then anything else I have picked up.

I am recently getting into the domain of VRE or site flipping and would love to be involved. I have a few domains of my own that I may be willing to throw into something like this. Do you plan on doing this with many sites? I'd like to get involved with someone or a group of people who would like to do this kind of thing on a consistent basis.

In my signature I link to my Project Portfolio page. I've got one website in the works for the purpose of selling. Check it out and let me know if this is something anyone would be interested in. I can probably provide content as well, depending on the niche and content needed for the site.

No, if all go well, the registration will be opened on coming Monday 16 February.

Someone has mentioned whether donating websites or anything else will go against the purpose of this project, well what I can say is the main purpose of site flipping is for the profit, so whether it's a donated site or a site we build up ourself, it don't really matters ;p
