Subject Line - Any ideas?

I recently built a list of 1,000 but it's not very responsive, very few open and read my emails.. so I was thinking.. does anyone have some hilarious email copy or eye-catching subject lines or SOMETHING I can send to my list... something crazy that will make them laugh and open my emails from now on?

how did you obtain/build the list? did you give them something of real value to opt in? I don't think a crazy headline will do much if there is no relationship in place. work on adding value, and delivering great content and not selling to them, then once you have a relationship, sell ever so often. 7 valuable pitch-free emails to 1 sales email. if you want good titles for email - get on Frank Kern's list and copy his

I guess this will depend hugely on a number of factors.

The type of squeeze page where the prospect opted in.

The source of the traffic whether it be FREE or PAID advertising as ive always found with good quality paid traffic I can get people who are serious about making money online that will actually open my emails however with FREE traffic I sometimes I get people who are less serious and just want to browse to get the FREE gift or whatever but use an email they dont check very often for example.

My advice would be by all means try out different subject lines and email copy from people like Frank Kerns list but also test out some different squeeze pages and some different traffic sources to see what responds best.

In saying all of the above I sent an email recently which was a sales pitch and I felt my clicks where low then days later I sent out quality free content and my click rate had tripled.

As a subscriber to a few lists my self I can say

And on that 1 sales email offer only REAL value products.
and if I may add if you build a 1000 people subscribers list you can do it again and that way the new people would get used to see you as someone they want to read the emails from and the sales will be easier.

    Pull the Cosmo trick

Swipe the headlines their copywriters use, just modify them a bit to suit your niche.

    Examples
Cosmo: The love mistakes even smart women make.
IM version: The site building mistakes even smart webmasters make.

Cosmo: 5 spotlight-grabbing tricks you can try tonight.
IM version: 5 traffic-grabbing tricks you can try tonight.

    And so on.

Look online for "cosmopolitain swipe file", I think you'll be able to find it.

For additional info and examples, check this thread over at the copywriters section:

I am on a few lists myself and the quickest way for someone to get deleted without opening there email is to send me a lot of emails.

If you send them too much they may think that your emails are filled with garbage. If I see an email every other day or so I assume that there is no quality content to what you are sending me. That is just my personal opinion.

Space your emails out and always deliver good content. Crazy headlines and gimmicks don't get people to read with the intent on buying. You want them to take you seriously.
