How To Manage aWeber (autoresponder) segmentation

Hi Everyone - so my first ever IM list is up and kicking with 2 (two!!!) subscribers. Sweet right? But I have a question now about how to manage list sign ups from multiple sources.

If someone opts in via my blog, their auto-responder welcome email includes a link to a free report I have promised. This works great.

Next, I want to use a small WSO type product launch to drive sign ups to the same list as my blog does. But I want to hit these sign ups with a *different* auto-responder that does NOT include my free report link.

Is there a way in aWeber to segment the auto-responder series within 1 list based on where the opt in comes from? Or do I need to create many lists?

Please advise experienced warriors!

[edit: I see under automation there are rules for passing users from list to list but I am not sure that is what I am looking for]

If the follow-up emails (offers etc.) will be different - set up another list.

If you just want track the sign-ups to the same list BUT from different sites/pages (follow-up being the same) > use different optin forms [tracking] for the same list.

The 'automation' feature is very useful (for me) when a freebie-seeker converts into a buyer: they are automatically added to the buyers list and removed from the 'free' list.

Sounds to me like you need to create multiple lists.

It will get extremely confusing if it weren't like that. Could you imagine having different messages and tracking for the same exact lists? Horrible.

it sounds like you are probably looking at multiple lists, but there is another thing you can do with aweber that might help you.

when you create a web form, there is an advanced option to start subscribers on message #2 or 3. essentially skipping the initial welcome / freebie offering message.

so you could just create a second web form for the same list and have the 2nd set of subscribers skip message 1 that has the link to the freebie in it.

this of course will only work if all of the other messages in the series are the same.
