Indy Sales Reps - Tax Question

Please do not hate me if this is in the wrong place! Brand new here! And BOY am I happy to be here!

I offer a service geared towards high school athletes and their promotion to college coaches.

I am trying to offer college students a chance to sell these services to these high school aged kids using social media (FB, Twitter and such)

Since these college aged kids are not your typical Indy Sales Reps and working for multiple companies.... I do not want to "hire" these kids... and only plan on paying them commission.

So how do I make it legal? Do I personally have to worry about them filling their taxes as a contractor... or do I just deduct the commission payments on my own tax return?

Im actually wondering if it would be beneficial for me to just market this mostly myself.... or actually go with the idea of letting these kids help get the word out.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Each rep should sign a minimum of a simple 1099 agreement and the IRS form, I think it's an I-9 form, for an independent contractor, plus provide you with a scanned copy of their ID and social security card or work visa, etc.
This is mimimum ass coverage for you.

At the end of the year, you provide each with an earnings summary, I forget what the form is

Any local bookkeeper can point you to the correct forms so that you avoid having to pay taxes on the money you pay them.

    Good luck!!!!
