What do you think about this membership site?

Hi Warriors,

I am launching my membership site in a few weeks. (Details in my sig.)

** Edit: the site linked in my sig is the current site selling my eBook...not the membership site. This post is asking hypothetical questions about the membership site that I WILL be launching
in a few weeks, which will be an extension / upsell of the NEW version of the eBook that is also launching at the same time. I'm not asking you to click through to the site to review it right now, I'm just asking some questions about how I should price the memberships etc. **

Quick question: What is a good monthly price / How much would you be willing to pay for a membership site with tons of videos of me, your dutiful computer guy, demonstrating all sorts of computer tweaks and tips? (Assuming this is something that would be valuable to you.)

-- Configuring various things in Windows
-- Installing the free tools and utilities I recommend
-- Using various awesome websites I've discovered
-- Fixing common (and not-so-common) problems

...I would even take requests from members. "Click here to request a video!" And I would then make a video showing you how to do a particular task on your computer. Of course, it would be posted for all members to benefit.

Also, current membership site owners...is it better to price things monthly only, or is it beneficial to also have e.g. yearly memberships (where you'd get a few months free if you pay for the year in advance?)

Finally, I currently use Clickbank, but have never used them for recurring billing. Anyone have good or bad experiences there, or strong opinions on alternatives?

Other constructive comments and advice are welcomed.

Thanks!

Rich

Sorry...not sure why the site isn't coming up, I'm off to check with my web host. But in any case, I'm not asking you to review the current site, just asking questions about the new membership site (not launched yet.)

    Sorry for the confusion...

    Hi Rich,

I think you have a really great idea there. Especially if you are going to take requests and DELIVER on those requests.

Personally I WOULD have a problem with paying more than $19.95 per month. Thats just me though.

I think you definitely need to have two payment options. One for the monthly fee and a discount if you pay for the whole year.

From my understanding most people only stay with membership sites for 4-6 months depending on the content.

    Clickbank IMO Rocks!

    I hope this helps you

    Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the input. $19.95/mo is more than I had considered, but I tend to underprice things. (Just ask my wife! lol)

I have never heard the 4-6 mo. figure, but I had a feeling it was something along those lines. Here are a couple other ideas I've had to try to combat that:

    1) Obviously, continually adding content will encourage people to stick around. I thought about a weekly video, almost like a "video magazine" maybe 10-15 minutes in length, where I highlight a new cool utility, go to a few websites, talk about the latest virus outbreak or whatever else might be in the news, etc.

    2) Maybe make the first month a higher price, so as to extract a few more dollars out of the short-timers.

    Thoughts?

      Hey Rich,

No problem. $19.95 per month may be to much, again it depends on the quality of your stuff. Just wait and see what other members say. I might be way off base here.

A weekly video is Definitely a positive thing! Keep your weekly videos less than 10 minutes...we get antsy...lol.

Uhh how about a cheaper price for the first month and then raising the price? Maybe a $1.00 for your first month and then $19.95 every month after that? I'd damn sure sign up for an offer like that. Plus (not looking to rip anyone off or anything) people tend to forget that they signed up for a program that was only a $1 and then it's $19.95. However if you "over deliver" which will be easy for a $1 they justify the $19.95 per month.

Again I'm just throwing my two cents in.

      What do I know?

      Hope this helps!

    Kenny,

Sorry, my post title was confusing. The site is my old site, not my new one. I am relaunching the eBook with all updated and expanded info, and adding a membership site with videos for everything on top of it. Existing owners of CSU will get the new version free, and a trial membership.

Shawn, I plan on doing a WSO with a $1 first-month membership for Warriors. For the normal site, the membership will be an upgrade, but if they pass on the OTO, I'm thinking of a second-chance downsell to the "well, how about trying the first month for $1".

Hmmm, getting some good ideas here...
