Default How to remove pages from a site without getting penalized by Google?

Hello Warriors,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this matter for me?

I have a site which is about 1 1/2 years old, has page rank and has about 100 pages listed in google..

I am wanting to set a blog on that site and take all the content and add it to the blog, but to do that I would have to remove the pages so not to get duplicate content penalties..

What is the best way to do this so google doesn't start getting a bunch of pages not found?

Thanks for any help..

Dennis

You could just redirect all of the old .html pages to point to the new ones.

Isn't that what the 301 redirect is for?

Hi Dennis,

What about effectively turning your existing web site into a blog, by simply adding an RSS feed? Warrior "Sparrow" has a brilliant package (often advertised as a WSO under the heading "I come clean"), which allows you to quickly put a full RSS feed on an existing web site.

Then, if you want the other element of a blog - interactivity - you can either add a forum or some on-site commenting facilities.

Warmest regards,

Paul

I've changed HTML pages to CFM pages (completely different layout) using 301's in the past and I was never penalized.
