Where's all my traffic? www.MillionDollarPursuit.com

Hey,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not I apologize (just joined Warrior Forum about a half hour ago).

Here's the thing...

I launched my site a couple weeks ago. I thought I had it all planned out and under control; getting traffic was somehow the least of my worries. Man were my priorities ever messed up...

I figured if I got a boost through social media marketing and did some commenting on blogs and forums I'd be well on my way to getting a decent amount of traffic. Can someone please offer some suggestions!

I ordered 6 fiverr gigs, where my website and a little message were posted to hundreds of thousands of facebook friends and twitter followers. The fiverr sellers provided links to their social media as proof and it's true they posted my site to their massive lists of follows. The thing is, it didn't affect the traffic to my site whatsoever.

I'm only getting like 25 unique hits a day max (and that's on a good day). Terrible!

Any advice, suggestions, thoughts would be very helpful.

Thanks

Traffic doesn't just happen, and if you just launched your site a few weeks ago, 25 uniques per day isn't bad. Assuming your site is content rich with good keywords, just keep working in relevant forums and blogs. You might also start submitting deep links to your site pages to some directories, post some articles in popular article directories, tweet at least one page per day, FB fan page, Google+, etc. There really are no magic bullets, in spite of all the hype out there. If you want consistent traffic, you have to put in some consistent effort, at least in the early days, weeks, and months.

So you were aiming more for direct traffic rather than SEO?, it seems that to have paid traffic whether from PPC ads or alternate schemes, are most likely to be profitable only when it goes to a landing page optimized to make sales.

Gradually building up search ranking for some not so conmpetetive terms might be the best plan. I would advise not buying too many backlinks at the start, in the natural world brand new sites don't get that many links at first, 1000 new links overnight might raise a red flag at Google, as I understand a 6 month old site could take on more new links without suspicion.

Seems that half of the people who get into internet marketing start with a site about internet marketing, it is an over-saturated, competitive field that's harder to rank for than others.

It is not just traffic you want, it is targeted buying traffic.

You need to make sure you have selected the right keywords, make sure your site is optimized and build diverse links to your content.

Also if you are in the make money onlne business, it really helps to have made money online and know what you are talking about

So when people get to your site what next? There isn't anything there that tells me in 3 seconds what it's about. Just looks like a bunch of spammy ads all over the place. There are ads about webhosting, there are ads about penny stocks, there are ads about credit cards... Whats the point of your site?

Your articles talk about Door to door sales, Alarm system business, Online vs. offline business, building a website..... Dude, you're all over the map.

Driving traffic to this is a waste of time... You gotta concentrate on one business model.

you need to write good articles and backlink them. seo traffic is the only way you'll get any decent traffic. yea social media might get you a 100 views or so... but it's never gonna last unless you post new content everyday

Some Fiverr gigs are good and some aren't. Check around the forum here there is a case study or two where folks have found which Fiverr gigs seem to bring good results. Sure someone can Tweet your message with your site, but if there 100,000 followers are spam or fake accounts you aren't going to get much traffic from them.

Your first point of call should be to read through the posting rules and visits the various forum areas here.

That's an understatement. Many beginners take the "build it and they'll come" approach, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

You need some get some good quality backlinks. Currently your site is showing a grand total of 4 backlinks (according to Majestic SEO). That's hardly going to make a dent in your rankings.

It's a safe bet that 99.99% of those FB and Twitter accounts were generated by bots and not real people.

Have some patience, mixed with a little dose of realism and a nice dash of hard work adding good targeted content and building quality backlinks.

    • Thanks for all your great advice. I think I just got hit with the realization that the vision I had for my site just isn't working. Time to give the whole thing a revamp and then worry about traffic after that...

I didn't realize my site was so confusing until it was mentioned in a reply to my post. I can see how my vision for the site really didn't come together like I thought it did.

I'm so glad I joined the forum and posted when I did. Otherways I might've let this go on for way too long without being able to figure out why my site isn't doing well.

It's going to be a long night hitting the drawing board.
