Warning, a bit of a rant ahead

Okay, I try not to get onto a rant. Sometimes it's inevitable for me. Usually I try to just say it out loud and let it go. But I keep seeing something happen here, that just seems to irk me.

When someone comes here and offers information about ways to legitimately make money, if they offer several ways and some won't work in a particular country, or they only work in particular countries. If it won't work in your country, move along to the next option.

No one solution is going to work for everyone. If everyone is building adsense sites, then the best promoted/trafficked/targeted sites will make the most money, and the least promoted, least visited and least targeted sites will make the least.

Does this mean that saying "building adsense sites" doesn't work? No, it doesn't.

If I'm looking for 500 people to provide me with information for a project, and I am, for whatever reason, only hiring Saudi Arabians for the project, does this mean that this wouldn't be a legitimate opportunity for someone to make money? No. It only means that the particular opportunity is limited to certain countries or other groups.

If you had to be a doctor to be a paid expert on myownmedicalexpertsite.whatever, that doesn't mean that it isn't worth letting people know about it. Just that only certain people would qualify.

I see over and over again, someone comes in here either with a great idea to share, or just with a list of options for people. Just because their idea or some of the options in their list only work for a certain group of people, I see a number of people who just have to post, "xxx only works for yyy"

Some people are appreciative, but are only adding that bit of information, which is perfectly fine if the original post didn't specify that, or the original poster doesn't realize that.

But when someone's entire response reads, "doesn't work outside yyy" it just comes across (at least to me) as "this is no good because it won't work for group xxx so why did you share it?"

Ok, I'll step off the soap box and let someone else have their turn.

Thanks for listening, err, reading.

Scott, what I like to read is where people say how something doesn't work, they got ripped off for buying it and they condemn it and hundreds if not thousands have already made money with it. Most of the problem is how they market it.

If Allen Says wanted to... he could revive his "Instant Cash Machine" e-book and probably still make a million with it. Others would try it and not make a penny, so does that mean the e-book is no good? Absolutely not, it means their marketing plan isn't working and they should try another approach.

Just because one plan doesn't work for a person doesn't mean it isn't any good it just means it doesn't work for that one person. Another person may try it and make a killing.

What just kicks me in the teeth is how someone can come here and share, asking nothing in return, and the response of some members (usually different ones at different times, I don't think anyone does this consistently) seems to come across like "Since this only works in the US, you shouldn't have posted it" or "Since this doesn't work in my country, give me something else."

I don't see it too often, and it's usually fairly newcomers who seem to exude this attitude of if it doesn't work where they are, it wasn't worth someone posting it.

But sometimes I even see an old hat say something that comes across the same way. (By old hat, I mean someone who has been here much longer than me, 'cause I'm no spring chicken myself...)

kind of depends what they're sharing. If it really isn't a good idea, and really doesn't work, and is actually going to waste the time and efforts of other warriors, wouldn't you feel obliged to share your feelings with them, even if it has been offered free?

I mean.. if you started offering some sort of doorway page creator, I'd feel obliged to point out the generally accepted drawbacks (and my own personal experiences - I've been in it long enough to once have made money with them!)

It's not about constructive criticism, or drawbacks to a particular item that keeps bugging me. I'm talking about when people post perfectly good ideas and suggestions only to be griefed because the particular idea is limited by geography.

If I were offering a doorway page creator, and there are problems with using doorway pages, then it's perfectly understandable that you would want to share the drawbacks.

On the other hand, if someone posts with information about say, 5 different payment processors, and one of them happens to be paypal, someone has to chime in "Paypal isn't work in my country"

Of someone posts several places someone can go to earn money by writing articles, and one of them happens to be associated content, and someone's entire response is "Associated Content is for US Only"

Never mind that these are but ONE element (easily replaced by an alternative, or a optional means of being more productive), this becomes the centerpoint of someone's arguement about why the original poster needs to offer them some other choice, because this one facet doesn't work for the particular reader.

If I offered with no expectation of anything in return, for example, 10 legal, moral, ethical, legitimate and repeatable ways to make an extra $2,000 USD per month, and ONE of these ways happens to be restricted to certain countries because it paid out through paypal, is that a justification for someone from a country paypal won't pay to, to come back saying "number 5 won't work for people in my country." inferring it is my responsibility to come up with a way not already in the list to replace this particular option?

That's what my original post was about. I had thought I was clear about what I was being bothered by in the original post and the follow up. But apparently not clear enough.

          ::Edit::
For the fact that I was not clearer, and for any possible offense perceived by those who've read this thread, I just want to say it was not intentional and for any such slight, I apologize.
