What you can do is Type out the words in one screen capture video using camtasia. Then you could add a narration over that capture.

Might not be the best, but it's certainly the simplest way I can think of without purchasing additional software.

Camtasia is free for 30 days, you'll fall in love with it.

      Hi,

In order to complete this task you need 3 things.

Camtasia, Powerpoint or Keynote for mac, and a Microphone.

      That's it

        Hi Josh,

Can you share the technique used with the tools you mentioned? What option do you need to select to pull this off?

          Hi there
you can do this with all free tools. You will need open office for the slides and Jing or screenr for the screen capture. To record the Audio you will need a microphone (logitec headsets are about $20)

Set your slides up and run the slide show in open office whilst recording the screen and then talk over the slides as you pull up each line of text or bullet point.
Using screenr you can host the video there or on screencast if using Jing or you can post to youtube.
          Hope this helps
          Mark

If you have a PC you probably are using Windows, and that OS comes with Windows Movie Maker. You can download it for free if it's not on your computer. The version of WMM depends on the OS (98 or Win7, as examples) you are using.

If you can find a good image of a computer screen that has the angle you need/want (istockphoto?), use that as the background and use the text function in WMM to ad the text.

If you download the free program "Audacity" (just click on that word/link) that program will allow you to create the voice track to add to the video track.

This will work best if you have Win7 and Windows Live Movie Maker, but you may be able to accomplish this with the earlier versions.

          Be creative.

            1. Use Sony Vegas. Its simpler and faster and cheaper and more powerful than Camtasia. Camtasia is good if you need to do screen capture or if you want to go the power point rout... but that is not necessary.

            2. Search Youtube for everything you need to know about editing video.

Here is how to add bullets/text in Sony Vegas Movie Studio:

Here is how to integrate Audacity (free to download and install just search google) with Sony Vegas and record/edit your audio for your video:

            3. You can also record audio and do everything you are seeking using the free windows movie maker but I recommend Sony Vegas Movie Studio which is under $100 and very powerful. They also offer a free 30 day trial so in theory you could do all you are seeking for free using Sony Vegas Movie Studio as well.

          Sure no problem.

The best way to do this is to record your audio file and power point presentation separately. Don't try to do them both at the same time. If you try to record both at the same time you can easily forget your next slide, mess up more due to multitasking, and it's harder to edit this way.

To do this I would first write out my Power Point script and then transfer all of my text into a word document for easy access. By doing this you have your script handy and you can record your audio file accurately.

So plug in your mic, get out your word document, and pull up your screen capture software, then hit the record button and record your audio script only inside of the screen capture software.

Try to speak slowly and clearly as you're reading your script in the word doc, don't worry about messing up or stumbling over your words just keep going because you can always edit out the mistakes you made.

After you recorded your audio, export the movie file and upload it into a free audio editing software called Audacity. Once you have your file uploaded you can edit out your mistakes, eliminate excess noise using the noise removal feature, and also speed up the tempo of your file to sound more realistic and to match your slide presentation.

Afterwards, go back into your Screen Capture Software and drag the audio file back into the software. This time when you hit record don't record any audio just record your screen and hit play on your Power Point presentation. As you hear yourself speaking just click through and move from one slide to another.

So when you do this in sequence you will have a clear video presentation with no mistakes. This is the exact process I do every single time. Let me know if you need any further help.

It really depends on what you need to achieve.

The highest quality program you can be using is called Adobe After Effects.

If you just need something basic then you can do that in WMM or even Camtasia.

Here is a video I made today using After Effects:

Try whatever works best for you.

If you don't have the money and you want to go the free route then you can always find free software online. However, Camtasia is the best tool for you to use if you want to capture your screen and definitely if you decide to record a power point presentation.

      Good Luck,

You can do it all for free.

    Do this:

    1. Go to screencastomatic and signup for a free account. This has the screen capture software. And you can record your voice.

    2. When you record pick "HD SMALL" and it's the perfect size for youtube videos.

    3. Create some slides with text and images that fit inside the screen when it is set to "HD SMALL". You can use Microsoft Word, Publisher, or Powerpoint. Create backgrounds with gradient.

Then as you talk you can click through the slides. You can have text pop up, and arrows, and images too.

    It's easy.

That's how I did the videos for my WSO below and how I do them for many of my websites and squeeze pages.

    Simplest and fastest -

Powerpoint on Windows, record using Camtasia Studio

On Mac, Keynote, record using Screenflow

If you want to go the free route, then go open office and Jing. Both work on Windows and Mac.
