Default Steps To a Successful IMarketer?

I have a pretty simple question to ask on the steps to start a profitable online business. When starting in a particular niche do you recommend promoting different affiliate products in a particular niche and seeing which one converts the best through ppc then switching the affiliate product with your own? For example the model would look like this

1. find related affiliate products
2. drive traffic through ppc
3. see which one converts well
4. start building leads
5. create a product that matches the best product your promoting

I figure that starting out as an affiliate helps you learn how to sell products and services.
I'd love to hear feedback

thanks

A simple thing you can do is build a free blog, reviewing 3 to 4 products in the same niche. Make your review believable - in fact, purchase the products if you can.

Of course, make one product just a little better than the others. Then, use your keywords and write 10 to 15 articles, and see how the products convert. Why waste your money on ppc? Try this first to see if your products are going to sell.

You may also want to build a squidoo lens and hubpage pointing to your blog, then ping your lens and hub, and submit to a few good bookmarking sites.

Try this out - it works great for me!

You're right it does.

The affiliate model is a great place to start.

Looks like a pretty good sequence of events.

Are you going to use a landing page to warmup and presell your prospects.

Warning!

PPC & how to make money stuff is hard to work because many/most of your clicks will be from competitors being curious and also trying to drain your clicks.

Hope This Helps!!

thanks tl lfor the quick reply,

i have been in and out of im for quite a while so I luckily I know better to stay away from money making stuff. I'm actually doing some things in the dating/relationship niche and am currently testing one product. I understand what tess said but why waste all the time setting everything up and writing articles if you don't know if its going to convert well? time is money is there a good way you can test 2 related products in 1 adwords campaign at the same time and see which one converts better?
