Writers - 2 questions, 1 resource

I'm a busy mom with very little time to write content for my online business. So, I have been digging deeply into the PLR world of late, and have noticed that most of the PLR that I can find is created by people for whom English is not their first language.

What's up with this? I see talented American writers who practically give away their work for $4 or $5 for a 300 or 500 word article. So I wonder why are they not creating PLR and selling it for a fair price, over, and over and over?

Any thoughts?

Oh and here's something I found the other day. It's called say it aloud .com and they're paying their writers a portion of ad revenue when they are able to sell banners related to your article's content (up to $135 per article if all ads are sold).

I posted my first article there a few days ago and it was approved today. I think they should be able to sell the sponsor spots for it pretty easily, so we'll see if I earn anything from it...

All I know for certain is that it dismays me to see writers here and elsewhere offering their services for a pittance...When someone sells articles for $4-6 for a 300-500 word article, I can't help but wonder how long they work on them, and are they worth reading? If you know I'd love to be enlightened.

Tracy

I am a ghostwriter myself, and I can't imagine any good writer selling their services at $5 or $6 for an article. Most of the time, research is required in order to write a compelling, information filled article.

You also have the keyword optimization aspect of article writing. Who wants to spend time doing all of this work for $5? Not me. I feel that the quality of my work is worth more than that - and my rates are not high, by any means.

I should think a little more about writing some good PLR packages. There are several niches I could do this with very quickly. Thanks for the ideas!

I hope you find some good content for your site. The only thing about PLR is that your content probably won't be unique, and Google LOVES unique.

    Good luck!

For people just starting out getting $5-6 per article might seem like a good deal. If you don't have the reputation built up, it doesn't matter how great of a job you can do, you won't be getting paid much for those articles.

This does sound like a great idea. I haven't looked much into PLR but I might have to.

    Hi Tess47 and Raynman,

The thing about PLR is, if you intend to use it for web/blog content, you must re-work it before you use it to make it unique or Google will ignore it as Tess mentioned.

Even if you are just going to put your name on it and market it, re-working is a good idea so you don't embarrass yourself. There will almost always be some awkward sentences at the very least, for the reason mentioned in my OP. It's never a good idea to put your name on something you haven't at least read through, and upon reading through you'll know what needs to be changed:-) (sometimes it's everything, lol!)

    Thanks for your thoughts,
    Tracy

Most of the time, PLR products are just used as free filling for a blog (that's build for monitization). Or as the basic material to create your own info products from: build your own e-book from 3 PLR e-books, brush it, cut the edges, swap a new cover around it, with a new title and your name on it. Happens all the time, and isn't too hard to do.

But is it much fun to do? No, Tracy is right, it isn't. But neither is writing an article for as little as 5 or 6 dollars. I wouldn't write a piece in the local newspaper for that kind of money.

    Yours, writingforalivingly, Ed

    Tracy -

I think many of the U.S. writers charging $5 are either trying to build up a customer or they are trying to compete with the over-seas writers (which of course will never last).

curious....who will disappear first, the over-seas writers or those trying to compete with them at those prices?

I think there will always be room for both overseas and native English speaking writers - just how the world turns.

If buyers want to go for the cheaper end of the market because that's all they can afford, then they will, simple as.

Does price of article ALWAYS equate to quality of article? Hell no! You can get some top notch quality articles for $5 IF you know where to look!

    Hi Tracy,

I came across SayItAloud.com a few days ago. I have yet to submit anything but I will do so as soon as I can.

I was wondering how it has worked out for you? Have you seen any return yet?

    Regards,

    Paul.
