Wordpress Plugin or Cart that splits sales across bank accounts?

We are working with several clients right now on a developing a revenue-sharing model. They bring a product to the market, we build the site and do SEO for a percentage of the sales.

Rather than rely on some kind of tracking, reporting, "catchup" payments, etc., we'd like to have the sales split into different bank accounts right from the site.

The site will be built in Wordpress, so either an existing plugin, or a shopping cart that has this type of functionality would be fine. It doesn't have to be a free plugin or cart...just one that will work well so we can "set it and forget it".

Thanks!

I've never heard of anything like that, but it makes sense to have it exist.

Revenue sharing is tricky after all.

Maybe you should create the plugin?

I know there are plugins that can be used for "affiliate sales". Affiliates are setup with their paypal account and referrals to the site then have their sales split.

But we want the behavior so that it always splits between two fixed accounts. And also possibly more of a shopping cart functionality than a single-product (which is what the other plugin is for).

I have never heard of any plugin (or non-WP solution, for that matter) that would ever pay directly into a bank account.

    There is NO such animal.

Payments can go to a merchant account through a payment gateway... or can go to different Paypal accounts using the "split payments" method offered by the Paypal API.

You shouldn't look into the existing 'affiliate'-type solutions if you need ideas. You should look into the JV-type payment splits: 2 or more JV partners, payments being split always in the same proportion among them; e.g. 30/70%.

RAP has such a feature (although it doesn't have the "cart" feature; and it's using the rotating payment system not the split payment).
JVZoo has such a JVpartner possibility...

Or you can build your platform using Paypal API.

This is probably the most reasonable option.

Just create a paypal account for whatever site you want to promote with whatever partner, then have a programmer on ODesk program an API that automatically splits the payment each month.

This is fairly new so I can understand why people above say it doesn't exist. But it does exist.
There's a team of developers at WPMU DEV who build plugins for Wordpress. They have a product called Marketpress which operates on a revenue sharing system similar to what you're looking for. Up until a few weeks ago it solely utilized the PayPal 'Split Payments' API mentioned by Istavan above, which I've used on sites successfully. Just recently a new service has been introduced called 'Stripe'. Stripe collects money from your website and sends it straight to your bank account, negating the need for a traditional merchant account. Stripe API access has been built into the Marketpress plugin. I haven't tested it yet, and it might need some degree of customization to do exactly what you want, but the framework is there. Plus, Stripe and WPMU are developer platforms at heart, as long as you have the basic building blocks you can achieve what you need without too much fuss. Stripe and Marketpress may be the two blocks you're looking for.
Please post back if you go down this route, I'd be interested to hear how it works for you.

      Boom. Headshot.

      Perfect! Thanks!

And split across PayPals is fine, too.

@rooze, I have to believe you about the split payments... since there is not one word about it on the plugin's page. Which means just reading their sales pitch one could never figure out how they handle affiliate and/or JV sales.

But I trust you, so I stand corrected - there is such a solution.

As for the Stripe thing... anything that is available only for US residents - doesn't exist for me

      Hi Istvan,

Yes, the Stripe integration is pretty much hot off the press. I'm a paying member at WPMU Dev so I got an email around 6/7 days ago about their hook-up for Stripe. The Paypal split option has been around for a while but it's a pain for designers/developers. Each use of it requires that you submit an application with PayPal X-developers, and the applications take as long as 8 weeks to approve. So Stripe is a welcomed option. (Sorry, I didn't realize it wasn't available outside of the USA - perhaps that will change in time.)

I should have also said that Marketpress is essentially a multi-vendor shopping cart. The OP did mention a shopping cart being an option, which is what took my mind down this path. It isn't a JVZoo type of platform by any means. But from a developers standpoint, it does have the modules needed - the multi-vendor support, multiple payments option, the option to take a percentage of payments off the top of every transaction for the site owner, and now of course the stripe hookup.
    I'll shut up now.

You can do this with PayPal Adaptive Payments. Though to fit your custom needs you are probably going to have to have it build it your self.

We are adding this type of support via adaptive payments in our eCommerce application.

Just be aware that with Adaptive payments you are limited to 5 recipients.

You could also try looking at X-Cart Pro, which is their multi-vendor marketplace application. There are a few mods that integrate X-Cart with WordPress out there as well.

In the case of X-Cart Pro, you would be sharing a revenue split determined by yourself and the vendor. It's really designed though for more than one vendor and maybe a little pricey per application of $491/single domain + WP integration.

    So...a follow-up:

Marketpress is great. However, there is nothing out-of-the-box that allows for this kind of splitting. And Stripe does not allow split payments yet, either (https://answers.stripe.com/questions...tiple-accounts).

So...I can't believe that my business partners and I are the first people to try to do this.

I see that PayPal does have split payments available: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?c...to_api_APIntro

But I'm guessing that the plugin (in this case, Marketpress) would somehow have to be coded to handle PayPal's adaptive payment API. I'm looking into whether or not this is the case out-of-the-box for Marketpress.

I hope this helps others who are looking for the same kind of information. And if someone DOES know about a way to do it that already exists, I'd love to hear from you!

I recently purchased Incansoft's WP InstantPay Plugin. Can be set at any payment level for both affiliates and JV partners. It works with autoresponders A Weber and GetResponse. They promise that more will be added (hope so, as I use eBizAc). By the way, eBizac also has a product set-up system, including a PayPal API for affiliate / partner payments. Then again, we have a WF member who has created a WP affiliate payment plugin. There is a discussion board here somewhere, with a purchase link.
