Website Rankings... Are They Showing Correctly?

Hopefully some of you warriors can shed some light on this.

For 6 months now by site has been established as an authority site for my niche and has been ranked number one for it's main keyword, which receives around 10,000 searches per month. The niche is not very competitive so while it has accumuklated thousands of links I don't build them en masse any more, though i do keep them dripping in and fresh content supplied.

However, for the past month or two I've noticed that sometimes when I search in Google my site is showing at #3. Oddly enough, sometimes it is under two sites that have never even been on the front page, let alone close to the top of it, before.

They are NOT ads (I don't think), I am NOT logged into a google account, I have web history disabled, location based searches disabled, etc. What's even weirder, is that when I'm on different computers with the same settings, different results will show. Sometimes my phone will show it ranked #1 and my laptop will show it ranked #3, and the desktop will show it on either. All devices I search for it on sometimes display it at #1 and sometimes display it at #3.

I guess I'm really wanting to check and see if there's any real way to know where it is or if I need to start worrying.

Thanks,

- Brandon
