YouTube Account Terminated Without Warning

Got a shock when checking one of my videos and it said video not available because account has been terminated.

Did some searches and I'm of the opinion that it's not going to change, even though I clicked the link saying that I think it must be an error.

If they had suspended it, I'd have an inkling of hope of getting it reinstated.

I also read that once terminated, you are banned for life. Wow, so dramatic.

My question is, to what lengths do I need to go to avoid being detected. I don't want to give up YouTube entirely. It's so easy to make some monthly affiliate money on auto-pilot with a lil keyword research and a quick Animoto video.

Someone told me that to simply use the private browsing mode of firefox when using YouTube and they can't detect me.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Also, do you know if they have a system set up to be notified if videos with the same keywords get made shortly after videos with the same keywords are banned? (There are a few I'ld like to replicate quickly, but not sure if I should wait, and if so, how long.)

    What activities are you doing on YouTube that you don't want to be "detected"? Please explain.

    You should have received an email from YouTube explaining why your account was terminated.

    You can always create another YouTube account, it's not like Adsense where you can't create an account once you are banned.

    Just create another account!

    What happen was you probably added a video that someone probably reported, and it got you banned. I know that's what happened to me. When I contacted them, they said I was reported and warned before, what wasn't true. Then when I replied I didn't receive a email back so I just went ahead and made a new account.

    The video that they banned me for was a making money online video.

    I had an account banned once as well. I never received a reply from them but I think it was because I created a handful of videos that use automated software to turn articles into vids.
    I stopped doing that and created another account. No problems since.

      Oh, i din know that videos created by automated software will get banned also.i'm about to do that in a big scale. thanks for the info.

    You were banned form YouTube for violating their ToS by spamming them with crappy Animoto slideshow videos with affiliate links.

    Why is this a surprise to you?

    I say good riddance, one less spammer ruining a great resource for the rest of us.

        He doesnt know why he was banned because he hasn't bothered to aquaint himself with YouTubes ToS, and by the sound of it, your not familiar with them either.

        You mustn't be familiar with the numerous WSOs and other IM products recommending people do this rather than put in some darn effort.

      Well, again, I asked how not to be detected not because I believe I'm harming anything, but because I don't want to lose my work, time and effort.

      Let's face it, there is a tremendous amount of subjectivity and gray area when it comes to what contributions are adding value to the site. There is so much pure nonsense, and even worse, negativity on that site that is imo, doing much harm to people and making the world and the site and worse place.

      I mean, it could take you YEARs worth, maybe decades worth of viewing, that would fall into that category. When someone clicks on my video from the serp, they are getting what they are looking for, so they win.

      Google also get a viewer in their universe, and they will see ads that G will makes money with. Another win.

      I'm sure I could probably look at some of the videos that some people would tell me provide examples of adding value, and I could make a case that it's no more value added than most of mine.

      It's subjective as hell.

      If you want to get right down to it, according to the leaked manual from Google for their human reviewers, if the purpose of a website is to make money, then it is spam.

      We can put all kinds of value in our websites, but almost everyone of them is spam by their definition.

      Anyway, as of this afternoon, all my videos are back up. I opened an email from YouTube saying they got my appeal and they agreed that everything is copacetic.

      "After a review of your account, we have confirmed that your YouTube
      account is not in violation of our Terms of Service. As such, we have
      unsuspended your account. This means your account is once again active and
      operational."

      Funny, they use they S word, suspended, here. They had used the T word when they
      yanked it. I guess they appreciated the irony of "unterminating" an account.

      Thanks to everyone who took the time and effort here, and I am going to consider new ways I can add value and be of service.

    Among other reasons, Youtube is closing accounts that use their servers to get free video hosting. They have taken a position that a Youtube video should have some general value, and that not only in the context of your business offer at your website where you embedded it.

    Thanks to everyone, including Chris.

    Not sure how it's ruining the resource. I optimize the videos for people looking for products. There's no trickery involved.

    Also use it for local businesses. Again, people are looking for them already.

    I don't promote crappy products or businesses, and refuse to promote various things that even though people may be looking for, is ultimately harmful to them, and I want no part of it.

    You're right. Learned the method from WSOs that didn't mention it's a tos violation.

    Gerry, I wasn't sure what the issue was but obviously whatever it was, I didn't want to get terminated again.

    I'm definitely up to learning from you Chris. I appreciate your honesty and forthrightness. Would you care to post or message me links to some videos of yours?

    PS - To answer someones queries or reply... Got no email from YouTube telling me anything and didn't get any warnings before this. And, yeah, I did ask about it, but didn't hear back. Thanks again everyone.

      The thing is that the video itself adds no value to the youtube platform.

      Think of it this way. If you owned Youtube and you had thousands of people putting up animoto videos where the videos only purpose was to direct the viewer to a product they could buy for an affiliate commission, would you want them on your site?

      If you want to a video site and all that was there were videos on products which were obviously made to get the creator an affiliate commission, how long would you stay on the site to watch the videos?

      Can you see why youtube wouldn't want those types of videos and why customers might complain about them?

      Why do I even bother?

      If you don't know why spamming YouTube with garbage ruins it for others, perhaps you should send a PM to Tiffany Dow asking her why doing what your doing ruins Youtube. Even look up Darren Rowse and the problems he had with YouTube and why.

    Full stop. This sentence makes it clear to me that your approach to Youtube marketing was at the very least, black hat. Youtube has no obligation to help you continue with that strategy, and as Chris mentioned - it's a good riddance scenario.

    If you really want some long term success with Youtube, look at it from the end user's point of view and plan your strategy around providing REAL value to them. If you do that, you will NEVER have to worry about being "detected", and you may actually end up with a real business.

    Incorrect. Youtube has actually created an environment for FREE video hosting and encourage it through private and unlisted URLs. Keep in mind that only a sliver of a percentage of videos ever get more than a 100 views, so many of those "hidden" Youtube videos can easily surpass those numbers.

    A friend of mine had this happen to him a while back, simply because he was posting videos to youtube that featured interviews with workers from the adult industry, like myself. There was nothing overt or explicit (beyond some mature topics discussed as professionally as possible, nothing too vulgar at all) in these videos whatsoever and yet they just terminated his account without warning as well.

    However, he made enough noise about how ridiculous it was and accused Google of obviously having something against adult workers (why else would they do such a thing) until they gave in and restored his account.

    So if you're not doing anything wrong, don't let them just terminate your account without any good reason. Hold them accountable and don't give up until they hear you.

    If I were you, I won't waste my time and effort fighting for the account to be reinstated. My advise is that you go ahead and make a new one - simple as that. Don't make it complicated Just my 2 cents though.

    That's incredible that you got your account unterminated.

    I had this happen a while ago and the account was never reinstated. Have since sold the site so I don't care, but it was still quite bothersome.

    Yeah, this particular gentleman happened to have lots of really long interviews uploaded to Youtube (and elsewhere, so it wasn't like he lost them or whatever) before they just terminated his account, so it was probably more important to him that they restore the account since he had lots of dead video links all of a sudden.
