when you break the law, you go to jail...

If you're thread/comment get's deleted - it's because you broke a rule.

I'm not a mod. I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, either. (so I'm unqualified).

However, I do know the rules around here. And I keep seeing this complaint pop up in the Warrior Forum WSO section.

The people who run WSO's have no control over what comments get deleted and what doesn't.

If a comment gets deleted, it's because the comment broke the rules.

There are several threads which people are complaining, thinking it's some damn conspiracy that comments are being deleted.

Most of these comments are highly emotional bi*chfests about the sales processes the WSO runners have. And the comments are downright nasty.

We know. You don't like upsells/OTO's. But there is difference between not liking upsells and accusing vendors of "milking people dry", "unethical s**ts" and other nasty, foul language accusations I've seen people make.

Finally, realize that people report those comments and it's up to the mods to delete them. If they are deleted, it's because a mod saw a rule broken. No conspiracy is happening.

Ok. I'm done. [/rant]

    Rob,

Good point however the same people who don't take the time to read the forum rules are also not likely to take the time to read your post.

      I know.

This was more for my emotional satisfaction than anyone learning something. *sigh*

But if ONE person gets it, then I'll be happy.

        Rob,

No offence, but I find it hard to believe that most of these posts are deleted because a mod just happened to see a rule broken.

Yes, a rule was broken, but no doubt that post was reported by 'someone'.. perhaps even the op? I have seen cookie-stuffing posts that have been sitting on WSO threads for days, even being requoted, without being deleted (until I reported them).

For what it is worth, I actually wasn't aware either that the OP couldn't delete posts, and I have purchased [at least] 120 WSOs now. Have you tried mentioning this on the threads in question? I wouldn't be surprised if very few WSO junkies ever ventured into the main discussion threads. (For my first six months or so here, I was hardly even aware that this section existed).

As for Upsells/OTOs, many are actually [borderline] unethical in my opinion. A good marketer knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to these, and 9 times out of 10 they aren't thinking of the customer, only of their own bottom line.

Crack converts well too, to addicts who haven't had their fix in a while, but that doesn't make it ethical for me to be selling it to them :p Why aren't sellers listening to their own customers when it comes to this? Perhaps if they did, there would be a lot less complaints.

Yes - they are. If they reported, which most are, then they get deleted.

And yes - I have put it in all the threads that have this problem.

So it's not entirely as if the OP has 'no control' - more likely they don't want that comment on their thread, so they report it. If they hadn't reported it, it may have gone unnoticed, and stayed.

Personally, I like to think that I would just leave all comments there when running a WSO. IMHO, most people can work out who the dick is. Having said that though, I haven't ever run a WSO, and in reality may choose to have them deleted.

btw, I know you get it when it comes to upsells, etc, so I wasn't referring to you when it comes to this. I have a couple of your WSOs, and really like your ideas re 'infotainment'... I also appreciate the value that you provide to your list

What's wrong with the seller reporting posts on their own WSO? They're the ones with the most vested interest in it, and they're the ones who most likely spend the most time in the thread.

Just because a post is reported (by a seller or anyone else) doesn't automatically mean it goes away. It just gets sent to a moderator queue so they can look at it. And if a seller reports too many legal posts just because they find them inconvenient, rest assured they will be told to knock it off.

There's nothing wrong with it, but I think it depends on the kind of post that it is.

Maybe it's just me, but when you see threads like this:

                {The link was removed... Lol, it's a conspiracy!!!}

wouldn't you just love to warn unsuspecting newbies?

I think most of us could offer constructive comments regarding the likelyhood of this kind of result being typical, and what people might be getting themselves in for... but without signing up and watching the webinar (in three days time; with 'no repeat, and no recording' :rolleyes it could be interpreted as breaking the rule below, and technically the OP could have our posts deleted.

Anyone caught trying to purposefully harm another persons WSO will be removed from this forum permanently. If you bought the WSO you have a right to comment on it. However, if you have not bought it you have no right to say anything at all about it. You have no basis on which to even give an opinion one way or the other.

If you think someone is trying to harm your WSO on purpose, just use the little red triangle ("Report Post" button) to alert a forum moderator

Nicely said! Posts like that have no place anywhere, especially not on a sales thread. It's kind of depressing that some people are so vicious to respond this way, perhaps even deliberately trying to lower the results for the seller.

Some people simply have a negative mindset. Instead of complaining about "milking the customer", they could say: "Ah, we have the option to get even more value, but aren't forced to buy the whole package for a larger sum up front!"
Upsells are normal, they belong where they are and allow for something to be sold at a lower price, with the option of getting more. And OTOs are useful, if they are actually honest discounts. Why would people have a problem with a discount?

and WSO's are oft times no more than bait to entice people to the OTO. I'm at the point now I simply will not buy OTO's.

If a seller wants to offer me value...sell me the whole package in one shot at a fair price.

It's funny how many times I see folks say, "oh great, there are no OTOs to your product, what a refreshing experience....I'm tired of OTOs and other WSO sellers should take heed" as if OTOs are, in and of themselves, a bad thing. They're not necessarily, as long as they don't take away from the effectiveness of the original WSO offering, ie being "required" and such.

However, I do find a slight hypocrisy when I see posts saying along the lines of "wow, this product is great. I haven't even implemented it but I got the OTO and it SEEMS well worth it" and those comments remain on the WSO thread but when someone says "Your OTO made me feel as if I needed it to implement your WSO but until I go through the program fully, how can I tell if I really NEED the OTO? I don't feel comfortable with your sales tactics" they end up being deleted. (not always, but can be if "reported", right?)

Maybe we all need to remember we're on a "marketing forum" lol
