How To Make Gmail Your Default Client For mailto: Links (Firefox)

Hey guys,

I want to share a cool tip with you that I just discovered by accident.

If you're like me, you've been averse to clicking those dreaded mailto: links for a while, why? Because back in the day we all used to use Internet Explorer, and if you clicked a mailto: link the dreaded Outlook window would always pop up and slow everything down. And we, as internet marketers, all used gmail, yahoo, and other online mail clients instead of Outlook.

Well in case you didn't know, Firefox has the native capability to use Gmail as the default mailto: client (Chrome already has this option turned on by default). Simply go to Options, Applications, and look for mailto: in the list. Then change it from Always Ask to Gmail. And you're done! No more copy-pasting email addresses!

Hope that helped some of you.

Best,
Srdjan

It's even better if you install "ThuderBird"... It becomes your default mailto for all browsers...

That was an awesome suggestion and I didn't even know it existed. I appreciate it, that will make life so much easier and I am also looking at the Thunderbird app as well.
