Admin: Are We Ready For A New [xxxxxx] Category?

Having seen the post

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-category.html

I thought of another possible candidate.

There might be others so I thought I'd make this a general
thread for members to add their ideas (for which Admin may or
may not thank me ).

Anyway for the category I propose.

I've just counted 7 threads on the main page with 'Wordpress' in the title.

So maybe a 'Blog' category ?

What we really need is a category suggestion category.

Hey Harvey, Sandy here...How are you?

A seperate Blog category sounds great.
    With Sub-categories of Wordpress, Blogger,
and the other popular blogging softwares available.

You have a good suggestion here. Hopefully Mr Says or one
of the Mods will make that decision.

    Thanks for your post Harvey,

    Sandy

With the influx of hamsters into IM - ever since the massive layoffs at the scientific experimentation labs - I really think a 'Hamster' category is in order. Otherwise, the poor little fellows get trampled by all the big-foot people in 'Main Discussion'.

        ROFL!

I think an offline category might be a good idea.

        Now you are talking Kevin.
As a hamsterette, I get tired of dodging all those big feet.

nah blogs are too specific and may not be around forever.

The reason their should be an "offline board" is because it covers such a massive scope.

    You want an XXXXXX category?

I don't even want to know what kind of fetish fanatics will visit that category.

I think three X's would be quite enough myself. Maybe the hamsters would fit in that category, too. I'm sure rabbits would fit there.

I think moving anything that is often discussed - blogs, offline, article marketing, etc - into it's own category could be detrimental. What's left for the main section that MOST visit? Discussions of the forum itself? Opinions about emails and gurus?

I seldom visit here by section - I just use "new posts" to see what's going on.

Maybe it's just me but when I get totally organized I can't find a damned thing!

Well let's put it like this - and I have to be blunt.

The first person attracted to this title, and who responded above in this thread, was Martin Avis.

        Hi,

I tried visiting the new offline forum category, but my browser just kept saying 'you need to be connected to the internet to view this webpage'...

Maybe we should allow all the discussions mentioned to stay put, and start a new category for Internet marketing.

I honestly think that categories dilute the power of the Warrior Forum.

We used to get some great copywriting threads in the main forum until the copywriting category was created.

There does seem to be a dilution of the traffic and the varied input to threads that are put in categories.

Despite having been a professional copywriter for years I haven't even visited the copywriting section for quite some time.

Copywriting threads seemed to lose a lot of their diversity when the only people posting in them were people with a heavy interest in copywriting.

I also think that really important topics deserve to be in the main discussion forum...for example most new internet marketers would be well served being educated on the value of copywriting.

If they don't see any value in it they probably won't visit the copywriting section of the forum.

That's just my observation and I imagine others probably see it differently.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

I'd love to see a product creation category. I'm working on an eBook, and have to use search to find tid-bits here & there about the process.

    grocker, Glenn,

If you look at the top of the forum where all of the stickies are you will see

New? -- Read This! by ebbi

There are a couple of links there for product creation.

I have to side with Andrew on this one. A new category for "Offline Gold" is a bad idea. I use to love the SEO threads and tried my best to contribute positive comments when I saw a new SEO thread in the Main Forum. I rarely visit that topic here anymore. If you look at the SEO category it hardly ever gets anywhere near the visits the same threads would get if they were posted in the main forum. In my opinion SEO as a vibrant money making topic here is a shadow of its former self and I'm afraid the same would happen to "Offline Gold" or about any other topic you can imagine. I feel we have to many "Categories" as is and would hate to see the vibrant diversity of discussion reduced on the Main Forum.

      Paul

PS: It also seems to lead to the "Category Police" coming out in droves and the needless noise they contribute to usually productive threads.

I've been wanting to suggest a "New to the Warriorforum? Introduce Yourself" category to elleviate all the "Hi, I'm new here" threads that clutter up the main internet marketing category.
Not ranting, just think they're pointless.
