Yes, although now it is pretty outdated. It takes at least a year of consistent effort to make anything significant through a blog. How do I know? I did it myself and I also know most of the big bloggers or the third tribe that sing praises for their mighty blogging ways. They all took a long time tgo do it, but also, they got in on the blogging fad when it was getting hot...now it's outdated.

Youcan still try, but it's gonna take a lot of effort. and luck

Would love to hear your method of generating 3 grand. If you are willing to share I would be really grateful.

I recently launched my blog and it would help me immensely to generate an extra 3 grand which I would further invest in my business and created more great content for my visitors.

        Thanks in advanced.

I would say the same thing a few years ago ( but in a slightly politer manner of course). But after starting my own blog and almost reaching a 5 figure income (hopefully this month), I believe even those who say they make over $50,000 a month with their blog, as I can see the possibility with my own blog, plus I know for a fact that one of my biggest competitors does make that much money with his blog.

However, it is not as easy is " I write a blog, get traffic to it and monetize it". Yes, in Principal its that, but when you get down to it, its much harder than making money in the real world (offline). It tales a lot of real hard work especially in the beginning and you have to be really committed and patience to not give up.

How do you get traffic for your blog, specifically? Is making a decent income through a blog too old to be true? You know, many people dismiss these things as online scams. Another concern is that, how do you manage to update your blog regularly? Where is the source material? You don't run out of your brain?

You have to update them periodically with high quality unique content, build quality backlinks, monetize them, and spread the word about them ( internet marketing )

You definitely should be building up an email list through your blog also.

My blog thelinkmedic.com has made me thousands last year from advertising (buysellads), promoting affiliate products and paid backlinks & also article writing services. Also a bunch of other odd money makers that come from having a successful online presence. It's a lot of hard work, the idea you can make a blog and work on it for a week and get tons of money is laughable. You have to treat it like a second job. This effort will separate you from the jokers and ultimately lead to your money making goals.

This isn't a question you can get a definitive answer to. It really depends on the keywords you have on your site's ads for Adsense, and the ad that they click. You can't determine exactly how much you'd get per click.

Perfect example: One of my merchant sites generates a few clicks here and there... I didn't make them for Adsense, I made them as merchant sites, but I did add Adsense to them. Anyhow, the clicks sometimes range between 4 - 10 clicks a day, which sometimes generates me between $1.00 - $3.00 a day, and other days it generates much less such as $0.20 - $1.00.

In contrast, I have a website that I'm going to come back to in a week or two to work on some more. However, this website generates one click every now and again, and so far, each click has roughly been between $1.50 - $2.75 for ONE click only.

My point is, the cost of one click will vary on the keyword you're using, the ad itself that appears, whether you're only using Text ads or image ads, animated image ads, etc. So there is no real way to gauge the answer to your question.

I suggest that you just write for the love of writing your blog, and optimize maybe 30 - 50% of the posts you have and make sure your sites are monetized with Adsense on each page that looks like it blends okay with your site, but doesn't seem spammy to the viewer. It will pay itself off in the end, trust and believe. Hope this helped...

      Hey,

I just launched my blog on March 1st and am actually working on a easy to use 30 day program to help beginners get their blog up and running.

While I currently have not monetized on the blog and am focusing all my energy into getting more content and traffic, I do have some affiliate links targeted to my niche.

I recommend getting hosting and a domain from godaddy. It will allow you to install wordpress easily and their support is really great.

You can also get a great deal on hosting and your domain from them.

Best of luck with your blog.

      Hi Steven, great questions.

I have a couple blogs on law and finance, and how to monetize is also my big question.

Yes I'm set up with adsense and a little amazon book stuff but it's not making any money. been about 5 months now so hopefully by the end of the first year. I've done a bit of seo, posting articles and other blog-sites. I think I don't know what my niche really is -- people who want to learn about law? business law? dunno.

instead of translating articles (not sure about intellectual property issues) why not advertise as a translator?

I have a personal blog, the same as Chris, it's an online journal of my story so far in IM. I build a list with my blog, I direct traffic to my squeeze page from my blog. BUT, it really is there for online credibility and to build a social presence for my name and brand.

However many people make money through blogs with Amazon, adsense, selling ad space and much more. Just take a look at some successful blogs on the net and you will see how they monetize their blogs. Some of them aren't even fussed about the income they are making.

      I run a few blogs.

      My advice is:

      1) Remove Adsense to make the blog look cleaner. Too many Ads can clutter
      2) Install Text Link Based Plugins to monetize via text link ads
      3) Get a plugin like OiPublisher for Wordpress so you can sell your own ad space
      4) Sell Links and Blog posts on forums especially if you have a high PR blog
      5) Insert affiliate links into blog posts

I think we have to differentiate about the niche here. In order to be successful in the "make money online"/"internet marketing" niche, I believe there is perhaps one of the most pressing needs to demonstrate expertise or at least some degree of pure, genuine, quantifiable, success PRIOR to beginning the blog--for anyone to expected to take you seriously, and, ultimately, trust you. To me, because of all the scammers and "fake it 'til you make it" types out there, there is a heightened sense of skepticism in the make money online/IM niche.

The truth is, there are few hobbies that can't be monetized--so, a blog that was initially begun as a "hobby" could very well turn into one that makes alot of money--and, doesn't ever tred remotely close to teaching people how to make money online.

Blogging for money is for those who're in it for the long run. If you are looking for quick money, blogging is certainly not for you. Blogging needs efforts in terms of posting high quality content on a regular basis, networking with other bloggers, maintaining a relationship with your audience, responding to comments and so on...

Blogging can also be used to build backlinks or to establish a relationship with your customers/employers of your business...

For those who are into blogging for money (I know, there are some who do it simply because it's a great medium for expression...nothing wrong with that at all...)....you REALLY have to think outside the box when it comes to monetization. If you are tailoring a blog to attack long keyword strands, you 'may' get away with monetization with Adsense alone...but, with competition increasing everyday, I do think that blogs need to eventually develop products and launch other forms of monetization in order to be successful--if one is looking for a blog to provide a consistent daily income.

It's tough to start a blog and keep at it. I always tell people that the hardest part is setting it up and figuring out what you're going to say. However, once you get it going, you start to get on a roll. You begin to develop a voice. You even attract some readers along the way.

It can take a while to establish a blog. And even when you have readers, you have to stay on your game and provide good content to keep them. It's an ongoing process. But the process is the fun part, in my opinion.

I'd write content as if it was going to a blog...set up an autoresponder email series....set up a squeeze page instead of a blog...guest post and write articles to drive traffic to the SP....collect emails....deliver content via your email series in the auto responder. Then send product offers like everyone else.

      I call it email blogging.

traditional blogging for profit is VERY VERY hard. I 've done it and made a few thousand, but it was a lot of work. Eventually I switched to the platform I just showed you and I'm doing a hell of a lot better now.

I have 3 blogs covering 3 niches, as my blogs' traffics is not very high and thus the earning from advertising placement is negligible. My main income source is to use my blogs as a platform to write paid blog post or paid product review.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers!

I make 99% of my (online) money with my main blog which is in make money online niche and I monetize in many different ways, adsense, cpa, ad spots and so on.

I have been making good money with it consistently and this month (since its ranking #1 for "make money online" ) the earning is up and if it continues the way it has been going for the past few weeks, I will be reaching 5 figure income for the first time.

It took me more than a year and lots of hard work and patience to get it to where it started making some decent money and from that point on, the earning has been climbing up steadily.

Its all about how mcuh time and effort you are willing to put into whatever method you choose to make money with and if you are committed, you will succeed.

I just started a blog on blogger dot com. It's not even 3 weeks old and I've already made some cash from it by simply writing articles and pinging them.
