Your best bet for deciding which writer(s) to hire is to find specialists relevant to your niche.

You should expect to pay at least $50 for a 500-word article. Specialty writers often charge more, sometimes much more. Consider going with less content and stick with quality if your current budget is low.

At least.

Anything less barely comes out to any pay for a freelance writer...at least a third goes to taxes, and they have to market and manage their businesses. Think about any figure being halved in that way.

Plus, what value are you looking for?

Looking to make money?

Well, what do think will earn more: the quality, researched, valuable set of $50 articles for $200, or 40 $5 articles that can only slip by the zgoogle radar for crap for so long?

Which will generate organic links just by being quality?
Which would get some to subscribe or bookmark your site, increasing your conversion chances?
Which will be something that provides true value?

So, yes, $50 for 500 words. And at least $100 for anything technical, like legal or healthcare or advanced business topics.
