    There's a large chunk of people that jump into IM and never take that first step, let alone getting their own site up... so consider your task an achievement and the first stepping stone towards making money online! And keep at it... don't let anything hold you back.     You bought a website at Godaddy or purchased a domain at Godaddy? As far as Internet Marketing is concern, personally I would like to recommend these hosting companies: (I dislike Godadday's hosting)

    hostgator.com
    hostmonster.com
    bluehost.com

    I assume you will be using wordpress in creating this site. Learn the basics first. Just keep moving forward.
